thinking of getting our kids a quad for xmas. Looking at the apache 100cc online, brand new from £999, anybody's kids got one? I see they are two stroke engines. Priced a Honda 90 but it was about 2k,too much, see lots on eBay and stuff but they almost making new price, what's people's opinion on them?

How old are your kids?bought mine a Suzuki lt 50 to start with and just bought her a honda 90 now (she is 10) but the Suzuki was a brilliant first bike because you can restrict the throttle and believe me when they start you want to restrict it.It is for sale if your intreasted

Suzuki LT80 second hand would be a way better than some Chinese take off that sounds cheap, as the LT80 is easy to get parts for and will be worth every penny of what you will have paid for it when your kids have out grown it.
Look on eBay?

Gumtree.co.uk put in your post code and Honda kids quad ..........
I certainly wouldn't go 2-stroke for that application, just my opinion.

I've ordered a polaris 110 for ours, wanted to get a can am which was similar price and the same engine and trans. but they only come in black or yellow, not blue:rolleyes:
£1700 plus vat, will be used by the next boy when he's big enough and hopefully be worth something to sell after that.

Suzuki ltz 80/90 or Honda TRX90.
Far more reliable than those cheap makes on eBay, Gumtree etc. And when they do go wrong you can get parts and/or somebody nearby that knows how to fix them.

Bought a 2009 TRX90 for my lad's xmas on eBay a few weeks back for £1100. Should still be worth £7-800 when he's outgrown it in 3-4 years time rather than on the scrap heap like the chinese copycat makes.

We have an Apache 100 for our 2 boys and they wouldn't want anything slower - boys are 8 & 6 but had the quad last Xmas. 2 stroke doesn't seem to be a problem, has a separate oil tank so is self mixing. Quite nippy and would probably do 25-30 mph. Been great fun but they were shown from the start how to drive it. They were both driving the 420 Honda before it and the eldest is more than capable on that - he can reverse the trailer better than a lot of adults I know !!

Touch wood not yet, but seems a fair few available on eBay, could do with the brakes improving but the boys are remembering they can't leave it till the last minute to stop !!

I was in same position as yourself a couple months back, boy is only 5 so went for the Orion mikro 70cc. Local quad dealer is selling them, so with a 2 year warranty and his assurance he wouldn't be selling them if they were complete duds i thought for £600 it was worth the gamble.
