i have bought an old komatau fg1015 lpg forklift, it is a non runner but previous owner said it may be the head gasket, i have never worked on an lpg petrol engine, just wondering what else could be stopping this from running before i take the head off the engine, have looked online and cannot find any books or much info for it anywhere

dont think it will run on petrol theres no tank for it, not sure what the vaporizer looks like, there are two components the gas goes through before the carb, so it must be one of them, one of these has two wires coming from it not connected to anything and cant see what it could be connected to, there is no water in radiator and engine oil is milky, will top up water and have a go at starting it on saturday

Because of the way they are used, often for just a minute or so repeatedly, they never get a chance to warm up properly and get condensation in the oil which then never warms up enough to burn it off. Not guaranteed but possibly the cause. Although no water not necessarily a good sign

there are two wires going to the vaporiser unit and water pipes, both wires are red, anyone know where these should be connected to, there is a solenoid on the gas line, this clicks when ignition is on so should be getting gas, gave it a spray of easy start but didnt fire

had it spinning over fast with a good battery spark, doesnt look great, engine is almost firing but not quite and backfiring out the carb a bit, valve train seems fine, its an ordinary household red propane cylinder tried it standing up and horiztonal its a new bottle, forklift is inside my shed so a bit wary of taking gas pipes off but can smell gas of it, there is a retired engineer in my village who will help me with it, first thing he said is compression test, take it from there, only paid £200 for it so not the end of the world if we cant get it started, its a dastun engine think they were common in petrol datsuns and nissans
