Thinking about upgrading my wholecrop header to a Krone Xdisc. Anyone got any experience to share?

Will be used on a BiG X 580. Anyone know if its possible to change to new type of coupling bar and power transfer?

I believe so that you can. Have used a x disc but we use a easycollect 9000 for wholecrop for amount of wholecrop we do.

That looks really good actually. Does it work any good? Does speed affect the result alot? How fast do you usually go? What sort of wholecrops do you harvest? I usually have spring barley or spring wheat with undersown grass, would it work for me as well?

Speed steady 9 metre of wheat drags the 700 down 4kph did around 60acres from 10.30am to 8pm it’s got to be good clean wheat no grass struggle a bit in barely made a hydraulic drive roller on front to help.

Oh crap, its not for me then... I have been thinking about using the EasyCollect before, but never found any info about it. And for a little while I thought you saved me 30 k but in the end I dont think I can manage without a wholecrop header...

Trouble it’s mainly grass and maize in our area wholecrop could be 60acres or 200acres so a x disc takes some justify we did have another contractor to do our wholecrop.

Im having a bit of the same problem... ranges from 50 to 180 ha a year. But I found a second hand Xdisc thats only been used for 100 ha for half the price of a new one. That kind of got me thinking maybe I should go for it...

Still havent found out whether it can be converted to match the 580 or not though.

The only thing to bear in mind with the Xdisc is its power requirement, when running one on an 08 big x v8 it was the header drive that would run out of power first rather than the forager when it was full

Good info! I have understood they soak alot of power. Since I usually dont have loads of wholecrop it really doesnt bother me if I cant run that fast, but Its a shame it will take loads more of diesel compared to running my old Fortschritt header...

I just bought the 580 and had a 650 before so the plan is to bring up the 580 to a 630. Hopefully the Krone reps are right, as they say the 580 is pretty close to a 650 and a 630 will have better output than a 650.

Besides that I dont harvest any wholecrop for biogas, its just for cows. And the farmers around here only harvest wholecrop if they dont get enough grass. And that usually means that the wholecrop isnt that great either... so I should manage even with a 580 I think.

Anyone seen any Fortschritt headers converted to match the BiG X 580?
