Any one know what drop point and pto speed for yara amidas 40N+14SO3. Assume it's 50/50 height?

24m spread with s4 disc

Haven't been on a spreader for years and never seen this stuff spread before so any help appreciated

From my experience of kuhn use your book of pictures to match it up I never had very good results from the actual settings for the fert a set of trays helps a lot as well

I thought it might be a tricky one to use the pics on as I am sure the seller said it's a urea , extran and sulphur blend

I've used them for blends from our local supplier before and got it close you'll not get an exact match but I've seen me take a kind of average of 2 or 3 as the granules won't exactly match the pictures

If you could find some trays it won't take long to sort a drop point best thing we got was the trays that came with my Kuhn

I have ordered 10 trays and some test tubes to check levels . Possibly need more tho.

Would you place them out from centre of tram to centre of tram and make a down and up pass one side at a time , or just make a single pass and back fill the collection back on itself as in video around the 4minute mark ?

Sure the crowd who tray tested for us last time did the single back fill way but I wasn't the operator, just bringing them out the different ferts

The Kuhn kit comes with 6 trays and 3 test tubes so you put 2 under the tractor and 2 each side at half way between tramlines and that needs you to do 3 tramlines to check it

You can lay out 5 and do a single tramline so 1 under the tractor and 2 either side half way as there's more or less double behind as half way

That's the overlap points so that's where you need it to be right with a Kuhn I test my kv on the same principle and works out fine

Well if the Kuhn kit just uses 6 trays that's cool as I thought I'd need a lot more .Single pass way would save a lot of time .

I was planning using 9 trays . Centre of 2 trams and 7 in middle at each 3m drill pass centre . Down a tram up next and check results , then maybe check other side but probably finish the field before I get a idea of any settings lol

Single pass saves a lot of time and field just go 50 yards at a time till you get it right then chuck the full set out and do 3 tramlines

My trays have arrived but still waiting on the test tubes. I think it's goin to be the only sure way of having an idea what's happening out the back .

Downloaded the Kuhn app and found the closest listed product, yara 38N+7.5. Also used the picture identifier tool. Now have 4 completely different settings and pto speeds to choose between lol. On the tool my sample is finer than their U1 but courser than U4 so I think U3 is as close as it gets. Similar drop point to yara listing but 450pto against the yara 600 so quite a difference .

Always thought as long as some fert reached the next tram it wouldn't be far out. Now that I'm on it myself I am having sleepless nights lol

Where did you get your trays and test tubes from? How much were they if you don't mind me asking?

Amazon for under 12 quid delivered for the trays. Test tubes off there too for under 3 quid. I ordered 20ml as not sure what size I'd need. Thought I'd just screw them down on a bit of wood

Don't see why trays won't work . They are 40 compartment . Had found some on eBay but not buying at that price .

I use Amadas and am using the same settings as Urea (straight) and has been fine. I am all Amadas this year, so will see if it's out at all. I will have a look at what drop point settings I use, PTO speed was 530-540rpm that I do know.

Thanks. It all is very confusing imo. Seems crazy to have urea identification charts saying U1-600pto , U2-600 ,U3-450 ,U4-540 and U5 at 650pto needing S6disc and that is before you even get involved with border settings which can have different pto speeds for the same product. Really if the machine is this fussy surely Kuhn should be supplying trays and tubes with it from the factory .

I'm starting to see why last operator just left it at 6.5 drop and 540pto for everything and if it hit the next tram it wouldn't be far away . I think all he ever did was lift or drop the machine a bit to suit.

I had tried a few bags this evening but had gone with the kuhn/yara urea settings so 600 pto. It was making it to next tram .

I tried twice this morning with my trays. Spreading an L shape block so went to levelest bit . Got out tractor to place trays and nice and calm, placing trays big side gusts got up so waited a few mins and decided to try other direction of the L. Set up trays and decided just to do an up and down pass rather than back fill. Pass one fine and just as I was going over trays on up pass bloody box beeps metering fault and shut off . Gave up as most of rest of plot is on a hill side and just spread the lot at drop7 and 600 as Kuhn yara charts

Think I want an old fashioned lely centre liner back lol .

Out of interest , if Kuhn chart is at 600pto for yara 46% urea as picture above , why do you run at 540pto.
