hi I'm looking to put new shares on my kuhn ploughbut not sure wich size to use, 14 or 16". The plough is set for 16" wide furrows so 16" shares maybe?
Thanks

14" shares ideally. You need a hinge on the furrow of 1-2". If you use 16" shares and plough at 16" you will shear all the furrow off, which then pushes the furrow sideways instead of turning it over on the hinge.

As said above we only use the 14 inch shares. 16 inch ones don't give any hinge and can make a furrow that just pushes sideways rather than turn.

Im currently using 16 inch shares on 14 inch furrows as thats what got delivered and i needed them.all works fine with no ill affects

That's very subjective, as it depends on soil type. They get delivered on 16's if the rep/branch manager ordered them on it, you can order them on what you want! they are manual vari width after all, so you could go wider furrows if needed.

Ok thanks,I just wasn't sure if a 16" share meant it was actually 16"wide or the share made to suit a16" furrow.

I always found 16 inch shares made a far tidier job on a mix of soil types ploughing from 12 -18 inch .
When my boss ordered a set of 14 inch shares ( tight begger ) I had to use them but hated every minute

Wrongly ordered 16inch shares yesterday. Kuhn currently running on 14 inch shares . My furrow width I'd 14inch. Will it be ok to run the 16inch shares on it

I did the same with our kv earlier this year, it didn't go very well, it cut the whole underside of the furrow so it didn't roll over as well because there was no hinge.
Changed to 14 inches and it's doing a much better job.
