I've been getting an l200 pick up . 08 reg. been a town pick up and I would doubt if ever been in 4wd, the 4wd works fine but I just can't get it into low box it says on top of small stick push I pressume this is spring loaded or something but it fairly solid . I can push it all the way forward though and all the lights come on dash to say I'm in I think. It I'm still in high box . I'm confused.any help would be appreciated

I've tried all things but just aint for moving, stripped it all out took the 3 bolts of top of gearbox that lever goes into and spring and sleeve came out but nothing I can see obvious wrong, was bit out my depth to look any further. Could it just be seized up cos I wouldn't think it had ever been in low box with just bring round the town

I think the problem lies with the plastic bush at base if gearstick had it all to bits again and it's fairly worn and twisted out of shape, I managed to get it in low box no bother with the bush out so low box all works fine, phew!!! Just need a new bush now

If memory serves me right, its not possible to get the bush new without the actual low/high gearstick. If you go to your local Mitsubishi dealer I'm pretty sure there is a technical bulletin about that collar causing the lever to stick and not move easy. I remember doing one not long ago and some of the tabs on that white collar had broken up and fallen inside the transfer box before moulding themselves onto the links in the chain causing the chain in the transfer box to over tighten and it gave the sound of a seized uj on the front prop when rotating.

Hi yeah thanks for that, I have discovered u can't buy the bush I need so I am getting a gearstick assembly of a breaker for about £40 so not too bad

Got the new bushing /gearstick looked as new but still couldn't get it to fit in and work!!! Tried to modify it but that made things worse so it still has the old one fitted. Getting bit annoyed with it now

Sorry for the delay, did you fix it in the end or not?? If not, was the white collar complete on the replacement one?? I may have a spare one or two in my toolbox somewhere as I tend to keep those things that aren't available on their own. What is it that the stick wont do??? Is it going back into the correct position when you put the stick back in after removal??

The bushing on replacement stick looked fine. I just couldn’t get it to sit down in position and clip it in right. I did have it working In low box with bolts slack but when tightened all down just wouldn’t engage, took it apart and ended up jamming in low until got pry bar into linkage do gave up after that

It sounds like something I had in the other week. Are you sure that all the lugs are in the correct location prior to re-fitting the lever?? It does sometimes go back into the box even if its not correctly located properly and will give you the exact problem you are having. If you move the linkages back and forth with a pry bar. Had an apprentice do the clutch on one and when re-fitting the gearsticks he said same thing. He couldn't get stick to move for high and low. He hadn't located the linkages correctly.
