I'm curious about the variations in the colour/texture of my lambs' muck and what it indicates.
Lamb 1 - now 10 days old and out in field but had contracted navel-disease. Treated with blue spray, metacam and Betamox. Is still not right but is feeding and improving. Noticed his muck was almost white today.
Lamb 2 - bought into orphan pen soon after being turned out as the ewe's one working side of udder had stopped milking and lamb was starving. Lamb's muck was pale yellow and smelly but not scouring ( more like paste) Doing fine on milk machine.
Also noticing differences in muck within the orphan pen from very dark, thick and sticky to much paler and looser, yet they're all doing fine.
When I'm collecting muck samples from the field for fec they're much more uniform.
Educate me about the fascinating topic of shite!
