Lamb with no anus

Had a calf like that. Brought it to the vet. He cut his skin to see if any thing was behind it, but nothing there, so he put him down.

It depends whether it is just a flap of skin over the anus, or whether the tube inside is connected or not, we had two last year I made an incision myself but neither survived. Fortunately none this year, just sheep farming I suppose.

Agree with @farmer james. IMO odds are about 3/1 against being just a flap of skin.
Just slightly off topic, we have a Mule ewe with no outer anus - it passes it's muck through it's vulva. It got to lambing time as a shearling before it was noticed - it's not one of the things you look for when buying gimmer lambs, is it?
Scanned with twins this year and came in ready for lambing yesterday.

That's horrific. Literally shitting in its fanny...

I've seen it a few times in piglets. As said attempt incision. If that doesn't work, humanely despatch.

I had this last week. Thought I'd made a elemental error when I got a hand full of shite when blindly checking a lambing, and then did it again!. It was only having a look that made me understand the issue....
I'm not sure if it would have lambed itself as 'wrong' plumbing required the lamb to pass over the pelvis and then down towards the ground. Not hard to pull though.
Haven't decided whether to cull or not yet.
I'm afraid the lamb of the OP is a cull.

I've had a couple of these, one last year and one this year. Opened them up myself and a whole load of crap came out. They both did well for a week, then went downhill and died.

We never both looking for anything behind the skin on those, just put them down, I cant imagine an open would where the sh1t comes out of would be an ideal place to ward off infection on the off chance you did find something behind it.

We had a ewe lamb last year with just the one hole, only found out once it was weaned as it had a hunch back and looked strange and like it wasnt going right, looked and found a big lump at its back end which turned out to be a lot of poo being forced into the anus area so it was packing itself in tighter and tighter, I tried getting it out a few times but it became apparent it wasnt going to live so PTS. Quite a surprise that some live normal lives ad actually breed with it!

had a shearling not scan in lamb after having a lamb as a lamb..after a week in before i sorted out what i was going to do with them heard a straining, hmm .... she had no anus and the dry stool from the haylage was stryggling to pass through her vulva:eek: so i massaged it out and gave her some wetter feed... yep that would put the tup off!
