Buyer has been in touch. These ewes have had zero inputs but grass since he received them. They've scanned at 177% including 6 empties. He's also pulled them back a month, lambing start from 24 Apr 23 to 15 Mar 24.

These ewes averaged 42kg at weaning 2023. Being generous and allowing them a gain of 8kg, they'll have averaged a tupping weight of 50kg. This gives a scan efficiency of 3.5% per kg. I'm very pleased with that.

2 4 and 6 tooth ewes.

All the empties are 2th that didn't take the ram last year.

2th ewes.

150 of their sisters were sold last August. The 5 empty didn't take the ram last year as ewe lambs either.

These 2 scans mean that all ewe lambs who reared lambs last year have re-bred again as 2tooth ewes. I'm really pleased about this, especially as they have run as 1 mob with the ewes since weaning '23.

This super star shetex inverdale weaned twins last year as a ewe hogg, and scanned twins again this year. Poor girl only weighed 30kg at weaning '23 😂

2 and 4tooth ewes.

🤞 there's plenty of ram lambs to test this year. This breeding has been a struggle, with high ewe culling (mainly due to mastitis). Maybe too much texel in the mix? 🤔

Happy with this. 2 of the empties are 2tooth ewes that didn't take as ewe lambs.

This includes the dorper X ewe lambs that were too lame to sell as store last autumn. I threw a ram in with them just to see. Pretty pleased with that as a ewe lamb breed up.

Shetlands scanned at 142% including empties. Mortality from tupping to now brings that down to 140%. I'm happy with that. It's in line with previous years.

1,590 lambs scanned. Now just to keep them alive till weaning 😂
