LAMMA 2020 - 7th & 8th January, NEC , Birmingham

New Landini 5 HC tractors walk tall with up to 44in tyres for maximum crop clearance

A new range of Landini four-wheel drive tractors equipped with large diameter row crop wheels all round for extra high clearance will be introduced at the LAMMA show being held on 7/8 January 2020 at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham.
The Landini 5 HC will be shown on the Argo Tractors stand alongside the new Rex 3 compact and latest Rex 4 regular-size orchard/vineyard tractors, the latter featuring front axle suspension and a factory-fitted front linkage installation for the first time.

The new High Clearance version of the Landini 5 Series tractor replaces similar machines based on the superseded 5D Series, with a change of power unit, a new cab, increased hydraulic oil flow and a number of other upgrades.

“With under-axle clearance of up to 695mm (27½in), these tractors can be used on arable farms for late season spray treatments in mature grain and oilseed rape crops,” suggests Andy Starbuck, Landini product specialist.

“But their main role is to work in salad and vegetable cropping situations, and top fruit crops such as strawberries grown in raised beds, where consumer quality demands require the least possible contact with the produce.”

Compared with previous Landini high clearance tractors, the 5 HC machines have a new more spacious cab, increased oil flow for the steering and main hydraulics, and a slightly longer wheelbase.

There is also a new power unit under the hood – a 3.6-litre Deutz four-cylinder engine using just a diesel oxidising catalyst (DOC) to meet current emissions requirements, which replaces a 3.4-litre Perkins motor that also required a diesel particulate filter (DPF) for emissions control.

The new engine also serves up 4-5hp more power for each of the three models – 90hp for the 5-095 HC; 99hp for the 5-105 HC and 107hp for the 5-115 HC – and is matched to a choice of synchro or power shuttle transmissions with 12x12 to 36x36 speed configurations engineered and assembled by Landini manufacturer Argo Tractors.

There is a 540/750 economy pto option for operating sprayers and spreaders, and ‘soft engage’ modulated pto drive engagement is standard with the power shuttle.

In a typical arrangement for a Landini tractor, a dual element gear pump provides 32-litre/min (up 33% over the previous model) of oil flow dedicated to the front axle steering, clutches and so on, and 62-litre/min (up 15%) to the mechanical spool valves and mechanically-operated 4500kg capacity rear linkage.

“The 5 HC’s new cab, which has proven popular on other tractors in the Landini range, is roomier than the previous design and has a larger glass area making it a light and airy place to work, with better visibility in all directions,” says Andy Starbuck.

“Inside, operators will appreciate the spool valve levers being angled towards the driver, and the way the transmission range lever is tucked out of the way but still easily accessible.”

A wider-opening rear window results from a more space-efficient air conditioning installation, which comprises a slim heat exchanger in the roof and air intake filters located in the cab’s rear pillars, where they are easier to reach for servicing.

The tractors are available through Landini sales, service and parts dealerships located throughout the UK and Ireland.

Kubota implements at Lamma 2020

Kubota will be showing additional models in its range of implements at Lamma 2020.

These include a new mower conditioner - the DMC6087N butterfly - but in combination with the DMC7032FN front-mounted mower conditioner. Developed as a lightweight triple mower combination with an 8.7m working width, the conditioners are equipped with nylon tines to help reduce operating weight.

Other highlights include the latest variable chamber Kubota round baler models in the guise of the BV5216 with Power bind net system and 14-knife Supercut intake system. The firm’s weigh-cell equipped DSX-W twin disc fertiliser spreader with GEOCONTROL section-control capability will also be on display.

Speed record Fastrac will be centrepiece of JCB's new machine exhibit at LAMMA

For many visitors to the LAMMA show at the NEC Birmingham on January 7/8, the highlight will be JCB's very special 'Fastrac Two', the highly modified tractor that holds an outstanding World speed record.

In June 2019, JCB’s ‘Fastrac One’ set a new Guinness World Record for the fastest tractor of 103.6 mph with motorbike racer and lorry mechanic Guy Martin in the driver’s seat.

JCB then embarked on an ambitious plan to break its own record and developed ‘Fastrac Two’ – which is 10% lighter and even more streamlined than its smaller brother.

It is powered by a 7.2-litre JCB Dieselmax six-cylinder diesel engine tuned for no less than 1,016hp and more than 2,500Nm of torque!

In October 2019, ‘Fastrac Two’ with Guy Martin at the wheel again hit an astonishing peak speed of 153.771mph at Elvington Airfield in Yorkshire on its way to recording another record of 135.191mph, being the average of two runs through a speed trap.

JCB is celebrating the double feat with a limited run of Special Edition Fastrac 4000 and 8000 tractors that have additional features and visual enhancements.

JCB Agriculture Managing Director John Smith said: “The World record-setting WFT Fastrac is a remarkable piece of engineering.

"We are delighted to offer a select number of customers this unique opportunity to own a ‘World’s Fastest Tractor’ Special Edition Fastrac to share the celebration of this fantastic achievement.”
For the Special Edition tractors, the unique specification, features and capabilities of the standard Fastrac are enhanced inside and out with commemorative decals and additional equipment.
External enhancements comprise a distinctive chromed exhaust stack, special ‘Union Flag’ decals on the cab rear three-quarter panels, and embossed ‘JCBWFT’ lettering on the toolbox.

As operators climb aboard the spacious Command Plus cab, they are greeted with the script ‘JCB Fastrac – Word’s Fastest Tractor’ etched into the doorway kick plate and woven into the grey door-to-door carpet.

This script is also embossed into the leather upholstery of the two full-size seats, which have distinctive yellow edge panels and stitching to match.

Operators also have the luxury of a JCB yellow-stitched leather-bound steering wheel with a ‘Fastrac at speed’ logo at its centre.

In addition, every Special Edition Fastrac 4220 and 8330 has a commemorative plaque identifying the tractor as one of just 25 examples of each model celebrating the record, along with a certificate of authenticity for the owner.

OMEGA OO 6000 FL
The OMEGA OO_FL is a versatile seed drill of a light concept with disc soil preparation allowing for seeding various types of crops with a high variation of the seeding amount both in the conventional technology system (ploughing) and in the minimising system with the possibility of additional fertilising. A major advantage of the Omega seed drill is the placement of the disc sections into an X.
Thanks to the pressurized hopper, it is possible to supply even larger doses of fertilisers.

Thanks to the PSP system (Precise Seed Placement), the seed coulters place the seeds into an identical sowing depth across the entire machine width and perfectly contour the uneven terrain in both the longitudinal and lateral direction.

New Holland at LAMMA20

New Holland presents a host of new implements, extending its hay & forage and crop production ranges to offer customers a wider choice of complete solutions
Following the acquisition of Kongskilde Agriculture and the first launch of branded implements at Agritechnica 2017, New Holland gradually integrated agricultural implements into its product offering and launched a host of new implements at the SIMA 2019, extending its hay & forage and crop production ranges to offer customers a wider choice of complete solutions and to deliver all-round agricultural solutions that maximise efficiency and productivity.

The brand now offers a full range of implements for hay and foraging operations that includes a front and rear mounted mowers as well as lateral and central pull trailed versions, mounted and trailed tedders, and side and central delivery rakes.

New Holland also entered the tillage business with soil equipment painted in New Holland tractor blue. First introduced was the 6 furrow PXV heavy duty fully mounted plough with variable width, as well as the RVM rotary tiller with gear side drive. The range was then recently expanded to include new Side Mounted Combi Wheel and PL light plough.

Kubota launches third generation tractor series M7003

Kubota has launched the M7003 third generation tractor series following the success of its predecessor.

The new series will be available for purchase in the second quarter of 2020, much earlier than anticipated.
New technology has been developed to address the increasing focus on sustainability as well as the need for machines which serve the demands of the modern farmer.

The M7003 series will feature the latest stage V Kubota engine which will increase both efficiency and reliability, 3 HP levels with 130Hp, 150Hp and 170Hp max at 1900 RPM, and an additional 5-20 HP power boost.

The new engine package includes a depollution device, DPF and SCR technology to reduce NOx emissions.

The engine also has an extended cleaning interval of the DPF from 3000 hours to 6000 hours to improve maintenance performance.

The new models will be available with two type of transmissions, KVT and Powershift.

The Powershift model comes with a new feature called Xpress restart, which controls the master clutch directly through the brakes pedal activation.
The driver can stop the tractor without using the clutch pedal, ensuring comfort and productivity.

Additionally, the series will house a hydraulic power steering system with Multi Speed Steering Control.

This can be set according to tractor application and speed requirement, increasing the general manoeuvrability of the machine and easier control.

Mel McGlinchey, VP Marketing, Tractor Business Unit at Kubota, said: “The M7003 series builds on the success of its predecessor, the M7002, and reaches a new, high-level of performance at all times.
“This new series uses recent advancements in technology to further increase the sustainability and performance of the engine, and improve manoeuvrability and efficiency.”

Other key features include TIM technology, which allows the implement to control the tractor functionalities automatically on demand.

The “Swap valve” function allows full synchronisation between fingertip/joystick and colour valves described on the rear valves.

MZURI AT LAMMA

Mzuri’s popular Pro-Til Select drill to feature at LAMMA 2020 alongside ClubMzuri Sign Up

Mzuri, a British manufacturer of strip tillage machinery, will be displaying their popular Pro-Til Select single pass drill at LAMMA 2020 which takes place over the 7th and 8th of January at the NEC in Birmingham. Visitors to Mzuri’s stand 19.340 located in Hall 19 will see the versatile Pro-Til 3T Select and have the opportunity to sign up to ClubMzuri - a resource for benchmarking costs and sharing knowledge between growers who are established with the Mzuri system, growers just starting out or growers who are looking to take the leap.

Pro-Til Select gives users a choice of row spacings
As well as all the benefits of standard Pro-Til single pass establishment, the Pro-Til Select series can drill in a choice of narrower or wider row spacings. The narrow 33cm row spacing suits crops such as wheat, barley and oats whilst the wider 66cm rows make the Select models ideal for crops such as maize, oilseed rape and legumes, thanks to better suiting the natural architecture of the plants.
The manufacturer advocates the use of wide rows in these crops to generate greater light interception within the canopy and lower levels, promoting stronger, healthier growth and supporting higher yields. The free flow of air movement helps to reduce moisture and control the associated fungal diseases whereas the extra space between the leaves minimises the transfer of disease by contact.
In addition to carrying out multiple operations including tilling, fertilising, drilling and reconsolidation in one pass the Pro-Til system offers several coulter configurations to give users increased flexibility. From wide band, narrow band and precision units the Pro-Til Select can be tailored to different conditions and crops making it the ultimate tool for single pass establishment.

Sign up to ClubMzuri to drive down costs and increase yields
Across the two days, visitors to stand 19.340 will be able to sign up to the manufacturers initiative to help current Mzuri users and those looking to switch to get the best out of their system.
The project has been set up to help Mzuri users get the most out of their system by recording and sharing establishment data and best practice techniques. From growers who have been strip tilling for years to those just starting out, the project provides a platform for sharing knowledge and experience to further drive down costs and increase yields.

Are you Ready for More? – Fendt sets the bar higher still

Hard evidence of Fendt's relentless drive to develop the technology that makes the job of farming easier and more cost effective will be prominent at the first LAMMA event of the new decade.
Fresh from the company's hugely successful reception at Agritechnica – where not one, but two “Tractor of the Year” awards were received in their respective categories – the line-up planned for the NEC will be both extensive and thought-provoking for many of those attending.

Highlights will include a number of completely new machines:-
* IDEAL 10 Combine, complete with header
* Rogator sprayer with 36m boom
* Fendt Slicer – the first new mower from the Fendt stable
* Fendt Lotus – three new tedder models
*Fendt Cargo T955 telehandler
*New Operator Working environment – ‘OnBoard’ & ‘offboard’ In addition, the latest models of proven favourites will be available for close examination, including the new 942 tractor – ably supported by the 828, 718, 516, 312 and 200 models – the Tigo forage harvester and the MT 943 tracked tractor.

It's possible, though, that the biggest magnet for show-goers in January will be the new Fendt 700 Series cab, or “driving workstation”, which will be available from July 2020 and built around two new armrests.
'Fendt One' is the name embracing the 'off-board' element of the new workstation that visitors to the stand will be able to sample the experience using Virtual Reality headsets.
Fendt IDEAL 10 combine harvester With its MAN 16.2-litre, 790hp (max), Stage V emissions-compliant engine, the Ideal 10 features a new cleaning system, together with the Dual Helix separator – a combination that delivers the highest grain quality and the least grain losses.
It's the first combine – in Europe at least – that can be operated without a steering wheel.

Fendt Rogator 300 trailed sprayers
Now available with a boom width of up to 36m, are available with up to five OptiSonic sensors that guide the left and right boom arms individually over the target area. This means the booms maintain a consistent distance from the target crop for evenness of application. The unbendable lightweight aluminium linkages ensures the nozzles are protected and also easy to change.

Fendt Slicer FQ Front-mounted Mower
This latest addition to an already popular range of disc mowers brings new degrees of flexibility in ground adjustment, together with the unique lateral shift. Ideal for using with powerful combinations – with a rear butterfly mower, for example.

Fendt Lotus Tedder & new Twister model
New to the range, the Lotus is specifically designed for medium to large acreages and purposebuilt for preparing forage. The highly-rated Twister tedder line-up is now headed by a new model, the 11010 DN.

Fendt Katana 650 Forage Harvester
New crop flow, more power and the BalancedGrip smart all-wheel drive system. The latest Katana model also has a new grinding mechanism that extends the service life of the knives and whetstones.

Fendt Cargo T955 Telehandler
The Cargo T955 is Fendt's first offering in the telehandler sector and, as you would expect, raises the bar in terms of innovation. This model sets a new sector standard with its unique lifting cab with vibration damping and uncompromising durable build quality. In addition to these new machines being seen for the first time, the Fendt stand will be displaying examples of the latest models across its truly comprehensive range. These will include the recently introduced high-end, Fendt 942 415hp wheeled tractor, Fendt Tigo PR50 forage wagon and the Rotana Combi round baler.
When the NEC crowds have taken all this in, they might have a few minutes left to look around the rest of the LAMMA event! We are located in Hall 9 on Stand 9.210. See you there.

JCB Fastrac 8000 gets hydraulic front axle suspension and other significant performance-enhancing upgrades

A new version of the JCB 8000 Series high-speed field and haulage tractor equipped with hydraulic double-acting JCB Advanced Suspension front and rear for the first time will make its UK debut at the LAMMA show.

Building on the long-established features of the flagship Fastrac, its unique fail-safe steering system and the Command Plus cab of the current models, the Fastrac 8290 and 8330 can now operate heavier equipment with greater stability, while offering the operator even greater ride comfort.

Power outputs remain unchanged at 209kW (280hp) and 250kW (335hp) at rated speed, rising to 228kW (306hp) and 260kW (348hp) under full load; but the six-cylinder engine for tractors supplied within Europe comply with Stage V emissions rules.

The new Fastrac 8000 Series tractors feature:
  • JCB Advanced Suspension for both axles with adjustable ride height and spring rate
  • A 13% increase in permitted operating weight (gross vehicle weight) of 18,000kg
  • Rear deck load capacity doubled to 5,000kg, making more useful for hoppers and tanks
  • New ‘VF’ category ultra-flexible tyre options for further increased traction and floatation
  • New VF 480/70 R38 plus VF 480/80 R46 tyre combination for row-crop applications
  • New engine idle Auto-Stop and extended 600 hour service intervals for lower running costs
John Smith, Managing Director, JCB Agriculture, said: “The current Fastrac 8290 and 8330 brought in more power and torque, the Command Plus cab and new styling that have all been very well received – and now they have the significant benefits of active hydraulic suspension for both axles, not just at the rear.
“This standard feature, which is well proven on Fastrac 4000 Series tractors, gives the new 8000 models a consistent and adjustable ride height and a further improvement in ride comfort, resulting in a new standard of driver experience for a tractor of this size and power, and a further increase in productivity.”

JCB Advanced Suspension
Back in 1991, JCB introduced the world’s first fully-suspended tractor, with steel coil and telescopic damper front suspension complementing hydraulic rear axle suspension with automatic ride height control to compensate for changes in weight.

This successful concept was further developed in 2014 with active hydraulic front axle suspension for the Fastrac 4000 Series tractors.

The combined effect of these axle suspension designs include unrivalled driver comfort that encourages faster, more productive working speeds in the field, and the stability and axle control required for high-speed road travel.

Those benefits are now brought to the Fastrac 8290 and 8330 in the form of a heavier-duty version of the JCB Advanced Suspension, which is fitted as standard to set new standards for ride comfort and stability.

JCB’s hydraulic Advanced Suspension responds to maintain a consistent ride height when front-mounted implements or ballast are attached, and provides increased stability when working with larger implements.

Operators can adjust the ride height individually front and rear to help balance the tractor and the hydraulic cylinder actuators can be set to maximum pressure to minimise axle movement when undertaking operations such as buck-raking on a silage clamp or clearing roads with a snow plough.

On the Fastrac 8290 and 8330, the front and rear suspension installation also allows a 13% increase in the permitted operating weight to 18,000kg, so larger implements and equipment can be operated and additional ballast used if necessary.

Also, the load-carrying capacity of the rear deck area behind the Command Plus cab has doubled from 2,500kg currently to 5,000kg, making it a more practical proposition to mount seed or fertiliser hoppers, liquid fertiliser tanks and other equipment in this space.

Powertrain
The new Fastrac 8290 and 8330 are powered by a revised version of the 8.4-litre six-cylinder engine used by their predecessors but with the addition of a diesel particulates filter (DPF) and enhanced selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system to further reduce pollutants in the exhaust gases and meet the latest European Stage V emissions rules.
Stage V, which targets soot emissions in particular, is unique to Europe, so engines to the existing Euro Stage IV / US Tier 4 Final requirements will continue to be installed in tractors shipped to markets in North America, CIS states and Russia, Africa and the Pacific region.
In both cases, running costs will be lower thanks to oil and filter service intervals extended to 600 hours and a new engine Auto-Stop feature that switches off the engine after a period at idling speed to prevent unnecessary fuel use. This feature can be disengaged for situations where this would be inappropriate.
As currently, power and torque are channelled through a robust and durable CVT transmission providing a selection of operating modes to suit different applications, and a unique-to-Fastrac choice of seamless or ‘powershift-like’ manual speed adjustment.

Tyre options
New tyre options bring the load-carrying, traction and flotation characteristics of the latest ‘VF’ category traction tyres to the two biggest and most powerful models in the Fastrac range.
All are designed to be capable of sustained travel at the Fastrac 8290 and 8330’s legal top road speed of 65kph, while enabling lower inflation pressures for a given load in the field or increased load at the typical pressures required for tyres of a lesser rating.
The new options are: BKT VF V-Flecto in 600/60 R38 and VF 540/65 R38 front sizes matched with VF 710/60 R42 rears; a Trelleborg TM1060 VF 600/60 R38 and VF 710/60 R42 pairing; and Mitas HC2000 VF 480/70 R38 fronts with VF 480/80 R46 rears, which can be used on adjustable rims to achieve track spacings for row crops and similar applications.

Precision farming
A precision guidance system is now available for Fastrac 8000 Series tractors from JCB Agriculture dealers to complement the after-market systems that can be purchased to make use of factory-installed ‘steering ready’ electronics infrastructure.
The Trimble GFX-750 package comprises a NAV-900 cab roof-mounted satellite signal antenna and the GFX-750 in-cab display, which has the Android operating system and a configurable layout for the 10in (256mm) high-definition colour touch screen.
In addition to satellite guidance, the GFX-750 can be used to display a camera feed or an ISOBUS virtual terminal for operating implements, and there is a choice of SBAS, RangePoint RTX, OmniStar, CentrePoint RTX, VRS and RTK signal correction services for pass-to-pass accuracy down to less than 25mm.

Join Frontier and SOYL at LAMMA for live demos of technology to manage the farm more efficiently

Frontier Agriculture and precision farming leaders, SOYL will team up LAMMA 2020 to demonstrate how technology accessed through the MyFarm online platform can be used by growers to help manage every aspect of their farm business.

Live and interactive demonstrations
Visit our stand at to see demonstrations of MyFarm on giant interactive screens. MyFarm is available to all customers of Frontier and its divisions. Among the aspects being demonstrated will be:

MyAccount: Access to financial, contractual and movement information as well as a full history of grain sample results. Copy invoices, statements, account balances and movement information are available instantly whenever the grower needs them.

Crop records and agronomy: MyFarm links directly to both Muddy Boots’ Greenlight Grower Management and Gatekeeper from Farmplan to enable efficient transfer and storage of recommendation and application records.

MySOYL Precision data: Customers can access all of their precision information via the MySOYL application within MyFarm.

Data security and account control: MyFarm customer data is stored safely and can only ever be accessed by users authorised by the customer themselves. It might be that a grower chooses to give their sprayer operator access to their crop records so they can load details of input application. The key is that the customer chooses and controls who has access to what.

Mobile access: MyFarm works on mobile devices. Whether it is checking grain prices, the latest grain sample results or planned grain movements it doesn’t matter where you are, if you have signal you can do it.

Tom Parker, commercial manager – digital for Frontier says: “In 2019 we launched a major upgrade to MyFarm which introduced a more joined up system that is easier and faster to use. It delivers uncomplicated yet powerful management tools which are accessible in one place, alongside comprehensive data that can be analysed more easily to improve business performance and the bottom line. We’re looking forward to showing MyFarm to growers at LAMMA.”

NEW: Manage farm profitability with MySOYL ‘margin tool’

A recently launched suite of MySOYL analysis tools is enabling growers to look at a range of financial performance metrics across their land and the complete farm rotation.

These new margin map tools take analysis to a new level giving farmers with yield map data the ability to easily create maps showing income, gross margin and net margin for each part of their land.

Simon Parrington, commercial director for SOYL says: “We’re expecting this new tool to be one that attracts a lot of interest at the show and looking forward to demonstrating it. Being able to look at the profitability of each part of the field is useful in terms of informing agronomy decisions but also in identifying areas where an environmental scheme may be a better use of part of the field.

“It’s important to be able to look at multiple layers of yield and profitability data as in some cases, parts of fields will look profitable in one year/crop type but deliver much poorer results for other crops. The MySOYL margin map tool lets farmers select multiple years and build a more complete picture of cumulative gross or net margin, often with surprising results. With growers starting to look forward to a new era of agricultural payments and the rising importance of ‘natural capital’ management it’s easy to see how this tool could be used to earmark areas better suited to environmental schemes.”

Find us at LAMMA

The Frontier and SOYL team is looking forward to welcoming anyone interested in finding out about using technology to manage their arable farm business. Join them on Hall 10 Stand 10.120 at the NEC in Birmingham on 7th & 8th January 2020 – admission is free!
