Collect BASIS & NRoSO points at LAMMA

LAMMA is once again providing visitors with the opportunity to collect BASIS and NRoSO points at the event.

BASIS members have the opportunity to collect a maximum of six points. Two points are automatically available for attending the show and four are available by taking part in the LAMMA Knowledge Trail.

A new stamp card system has been introduced this year for the trail. Delegates will need to collect the cards from BASIS stand (756). They then need to visit four out of the seven exhibitors involved in the trail (all are in Hall 7) and successfully complete their individual knowledge trails to secure maximum points.

Cards will be stamped by the exhibitor on completion of the task. Completed cards should be returned to the BASIS stand or put into collection boxes situated at the steward helpdesks in Hall 7. Alternatively, they can be posted to BASIS after the event.

Exhibitors taking part are:

* Agrii – Hall 7 stand 101

* DSV – Hall 7 stand 743

* Ilex Enviroservices – Hall 7, stand 109

* Omex Agriculture – Hall 7, stand 741

* Soyl – Hall 7, stand 103

* The Voluntary Initiative – Hall 7, stand 777

* Yara – Hall 7, stand 786

Visitors will receive two NRoSO points for attending the event. LAMMA organisers have made it even easier this year to collect points. Visitors who register for the new LAMMA event app will be automatically be registered for NRoSO points. Alternatively, points can be collected by visiting the LAMMA stand (757) in Hall 7.

AgriCamera will have two new innovations on show for the first time at LAMMA

Please do drop by and visit us in Hall 8, stand 844

Alarms For Farms
Wireless, battery powered sensors so you know who’s on your farm

AgriCamera’s recently launched FarmDetect system is a network of battery powered PIR detectors and beam sensors that wireless connect to the cloud and can send out alerts directly to your phone.

Using low frequency wireless connections, the sensor units can connect back to the base station at up to 1km with no line of sight. The base station communicates with our cloud platform using either your broadband connection or a self contained GSM connection.

wireless_pir.jpg

The FarmDetect PIR sensors are fully waterproof and have a battery life of around 2 years. They can be deployed almost anywhere and will connect back wirelessly to the basestation.

The PIR detectors are available in three different lens angles – 90 degrees, 45 degrees and 1 degree. The 1 degree lens is designed to cast a very narrow ‘curtain’ or wall.

wifi_beams.jpg

The FarmDetect infrared beams are ideal for where you need to create a virtual perimeter and want to be alerted anytime someone crosses the fence.

They connect in the same way as the PIR detectors and also have a 2 year battery life.

System diagram

FarmDetect.png

You can have beams on your driveways and PIR sensors in your yard to give you alerts when people are on your farm. You can have as many of these sensors dotted across your farm to givr as much or as little coverage as possible. Motion detection alarms will work perfectly and seamlesly with your dashboard so you can check what is going on when an alarm is triggered. Why not phone the AgriCamera team today to dicuss how a system might look for you.

Base Station Options

On Premise Recording
For when your internet connection is not so fast.

Our on premise recording system works in the same way as a traditional CCTV system. The cameras are connected to a network, and the recording system is also plugged into this network. The recording system then connects to all the cameras and performs motion detection on the images.

To view the recordings you simply go to our Dashboard website and login as usual. This can be done when you are at your house or viewing remotely*.

cloud_recording_day_drilldown.png

It is easy to quickly review thousands of hours of footage in order to find a particular event you are looking for.
You can drill down through month, day, hour and minute snapshots instantly before having to start watching actual video.

At any time you can jump to a different camera on your account, or switch to a completely different date with the buttons in the menubar at the top.

cloud_recording_hour_drilldown.png

Red markers indicate a time period in which movement was detected. This means you can immediately know if there was any activity within a particular day or hour.

Once you have clicked on a particular minute, a play back window opens. From here, you can play the video back at up to 10x normal speed. You can also drag the timeline marker to jump to a different section.

With the export controls, you can prepare a section of footage to be exported from the cloud storage system and saved locally to your computer if you need to keep the footage for evidence purposes. You can also download a snapshot image at any time by simply pressing the Download Image button.

The share button allows you to copy a URL that can be shared in an email or saved to allow you to go back to the exact same point in time in the future.

The Alternative to the Obvious............
LAMMA 2017 HALL 8 STAND 809

A new service has been launched by J F Hudson Ltd aimed at helping farmers access industrial processes to create solutions to problems that occur with machinery and equipment during everyday agricultural operations.

The service, ‘CAD n Cut’, utilises Computer Aided Design to create 2D and 3D drawings to provide a visual representation of solutions. From the initial drawings produced, a file is then created in a format which is compatible with computer controlled laser, plasma and water cutting equipment and 3D printers. Component parts can then be manufactured from a range of materials and delivered directly to the client.

The problem solving process is designed to help bridge the gap between farmers and industry and has a wide range of applications and benefits such as increasing the efficiency of equipment and reducing running costs. It is also an easier method of prototyping, minimising the time required for the production of one-off and repetitive parts and extending the usable life of machines that may be deemed no longer fit for purpose, or for which the parts are obsolete. Said Managing Director, James Hudson; “I hope that farmers and contractors will now be encouraged to think outside the box when faced with a problem as the obvious solution may not always be the most cost effective.”

Several clients have already benefited from the new service, one of which used the service to re-place the trough surrounds in a milking parlour. Said Wayne Airey who farms in Lancashire, “I am delighted, the new trough backs are stainless steel so will last a lot longer than the originals, they fitted exactly and should stay cleaner for longer.” James and his team have delivered a first class service from the development of ideas that I hadn’t even considered to the fitting of the new parts.

Another recent project involved producing manhole access parts for a self-propelled tanker which was being modified by the client to spread slurry. The client made use of the remote service by providing a rough sketch of the required parts by e-mail. Once the client was satisfied with the proposal drawings, the file was reproduced in a format suitable for plasma cutting, resulting in a set of parts being delivered directly to the customer.

‘CAD n Cut’ is offered to clients across the UK alongside the company’s agricultural building design service.

NEW TopStirTM Shallow Disc for Proforge Inverta - STAND B15

At Lamma 2017 Proforge will be showing their new TopStir disc blade option that can be fitted on the popular Inverta short-disc harrows.
Ben Whyles - Partner, comments

“ With the growing popularity of the Inverta worldwide has come a requirement for a blade with shallower working capability, to suit stale-seedbed creation. The 560mm TopStir disc blade has a full circumference of ground contact, with a decent angle of attack and concave ensuring everything gets moved at minimum working depth. The new TopStir disc fits on the same SKF maintenance-free hub as the standard-issue 560mm Notched disc, allowing for the potential to switch between blade types, depending on application. The Inverta with either disc has the ability to produce a fine tilth, thanks to its hi-speed capabilities, 12-14 kmh”.

The TopStir disc has lateral serrations 120mm up from the edge of the disc blade allowing the blade to wear down to 350mm diameter before it loses its cutting ability. For working depths of over 40mm, and for a wide range of secondary applications including working down ploughing, Proforge will continue to recommend the Standard issue 560mm notched disc as fitted on all machines to date.
IMG_5650.JPG

A selection of other machinery from the Proforge range and Herbst Trailers will also be on display.

We also look forward to offering all customers who visit our stand, B15, a complimentary freshly ground Jura Coffee to ward the chill away! (y)

Kongskilde Industries shows a brand new trailed forage harvester

thumbnail_IMG_4232.jpg

FCT 1260 Trailed Forage Harvester

Following a launch 12 months ago at Lamma, the Kongskilde FCT 1260 is once again on show and will feature some small updates ahead of the 2017 season.

Chief among these will be a “curtain” over the grass pick up to keep all loose grass stems off the main guards.
Some minor adjustments will also be made to the metal detector system to enhance this important feature still further.

These and other incidental updates have been introduced as a direct result of 2016 customer and demonstration experience.

“At a time when the industry is scrutinising all costs, the production of home grown fodder is absolutely critical to livestock farmers more than ever” points out Kongskildes’ Martin Holden.

Chopping the grass to the correct length for the best consolidation in the clamp is a much talked about and often ignored subject.
There is a popular misconception that precision chop means dust, it doesn't, todays Kongskilde forage harvesters can be set up for numerous chop lengths and in the case of the 1260 this is made easier due to gearbox drive, so a 2 speed set up comes as standard.
For even longer chop lengths, half their knives can be removed from the cutting rotor” The cutting rotor is redesigned with cast bearing housings and new knife fixings.
Drive comes via a wide angle pto and through the “swan neck” draw bar to swivel gearboxs’s. This design allows for in line or offset operation in the field. A metal detector system is standard as is a central lubrication system for the main bearings within the machine. A hydraulically foldable chute is a recommended option which allows the tallest of today’s trailers to be loaded.
Crucially the transport width is now 3.0m, a first for such a wide pick up design. “This will appeal to many farmers and especially contractors as access in many areas is restricted by narrow roads, bridges and gateways. The ability to “steer” the machine via the draw bar is also beneficial” adds Martin Holden.

The FCT 1260 has a max power rating of approx 300 hp PT

Pick Stones sitting down

Kongskilde Industries will also launch in the UK the second generation of stone picking machines at Lamma 2017

The Stonebear 2 comes with a working width of 6.20m and a significantly higher hopper capacity. These two changed improve productivity by up to 30% compared to generation 1. The new 2.60 as its designated has the highest capacity on the market today.

thumbnail_SB work 1.jpg

With a capacity of 1.3 tonnes/min, the new Stonebear easily collects stones up to the size of footballs. Varying screens can be specified depending on local conditions. Changing screens is a simple operation too. All soils require a certain volume of stones to aid drainage, but soils with a too big a % of stones is where the Stonebear really comes into its own. Whether it be on reclaimed land, turf growers or even sports pitches, the Stonebear makes stone picking a simple one man task.,

The hydraulically raised hopper can hold up to 5000kg and can tip at a height between 1.90 – 3.0m.
thumbnail_SB tipping.jpg

The collecting rotors which are hydraulically lifted for transport are an improved design for harder wearing and the PTO’s no longer need to be disconnected to fold for transport. Generous sized wheel equipment ensures the “footprint” left behind the machine is min-imised.

One immediately observation many will make are the clean curvaceous lines which is the beginning of a new era for Kongskilde products; from now on new models of Kongskilde products will also share the more pleasing lines.

On Land/in furrow XRWS OL plough

Kongskilde Industries launch an additional on land/in furrow fully mounted reversible plough with shear-bolt leg protection for the 2017 season. Having already launched and successfully sold a number of the hydraulic auto-reset versions over the last 2/3 years, the new shear-bolt version will widen the appeal for a greater part of the UK/ROI market.

thumbnail_XRWS OL working LH.jpg

X meaning extra heavy duty version for tractors up to approx’ 350hp, R designates reversible, W designates hydraulic vari-width working and S means shear-bolt protection; the new models span 5-7 furrow variants. The advantage of on land working is that it en-ables tractors with wide tyres and of course tracked tractors to work outside the furrow for increased traction and operator comfort. Also with today’s GPS auto guidance systems, on land working is made that much more accurate as the operator does not need to steer down the field so matching up the ploughing becomes straightforward.

thumbnail_XRWS RH.jpg

All models are available with a wide choice of bodies, both conventional mould-board and slatted with varying working depths. Proving popular at this time is the new XLD mould-board which has a working depth range from approx. 8” – 12”. Skimmers of different sizes which are fully adjustable are offered as are trash-boards for particularly tough conditions with crop residues.

Independent hydraulic front furrow adjustment is fitted as standard as is a heavy duty combi wheel. A beam of 220mm x 120mm is mated to a Cat 3 heavy duty headstock with standard butterfly position lock for road transport.

In many ways an on land 7 furrow plough is more suited to extensive ploughing com-pared to a semi mount or wagon plough as headland working is much easier with a mounted plough.

Prices for the new XRWS OL range are due to be announced later this month

Premiere for New Bobcat Telescopic Loaders at LAMMA
Stand No: B54

A new range of Stage IV compliant telescopic loaders for the agricultural industry will be shown for the first time on the Doosan Bobcat EMEA stand at the LAMMA 2017 Exhibition, taking place at the East of England Showground in Peterborough in the UK from 18-19 January 2017.
thumbnail_TL3465HF-Agri-Grapple-Bucket.jpg

Backed by a 3-year warranty as standard, the new Bobcat Stage IV telescopic loaders are being premiered alongside Bobcat's market-leading mini-excavators, skid-steer and compact tracked loaders and farming attachments.

Manufactured at the company’s plant at Pontchâteau (Loire Atlantique) in France, the new range of Bobcat telescopic loaders comprises five models covering maximum lifting capacities between 2.6 and 3.8 t with lifting heights from 6 to 7 m. They are designated using a new naming system showing lifting capacity/lifting height performance at a glance:

TL26.60 and TL30.60 Compact productivity models

TL35.70, TL34.65HF and TL38.70HF Productivity and High Flow models

The majority of the models are also available as AGRI versions, with a number of additional features providing higher comfort and productivity to meet most farming requirements.

The new telescopic loaders are powered by a Bobcat D34 Stage IV/Tier 4 final compliant diesel engine developed and manufactured in-house for use in the new range, resulting in optimised performance throughout. The compactness of the D34 engine and a new styled low profile engine hood improve visibility on the engine side.

Improved Performance and Brand New TL34.65HF

The TL34.65HF is a brand new high productivity model providing a maximum lift capacity of 3.4 tonne at the maximum lift height of 6.42 m.

In this model, HF/High Flow Technology, also available on the TL38.70HF model, offers outstanding hydraulic capabilities and performance with a class-leading 190 l/min load sensing pump (150 l/min at the auxiliary line) and flow sharing distributor. This allows the operator to work at significantly lower speeds, consume less fuel and benefit from remarkably shorter working cycles. To prevent unnecessary oil heating and power loss, the load sensing pump supplies oil only when hydraulic power is required. If required, the full oil volume is available immediately, thanks to the Quick start system.

Other important performance aspects of the new range include:

On the TL26.60 and TL30.60, these are available with two different overall machine heights with a cab which can be mounted in two different ways – in a low position that results in the very low 2.1 m height or a higher position to optimise visibility.

On the TL35.70, replacing the TL470, there is an improved load chart providing an additional 500 kg (3500 kg) of lifting capacity at the maximum lifting height (6.97 m).

On the TL38.70HF, replacing the TL470HF, there is an improved load chart providing a 300 kg increase from 3.5 to 3.8 tonne in the rated lifting capacity.

New Features

All the models offer new features providing higher comfort and productivity:

Power lift, an efficient lifting technology that optimises the use of hydraulic flows between telescopic boom cylinders to increase the lifting capacity.

Automatic Parking brake for enhanced safety and operator convenience.

Automatic Fan inverter, whereby a cycle time can be set for cleaning radiators and the air intake grill; a simple way to maintain efficient cooling.

Boom Cushion Retract that automatically slows down the boom speed when the boom is nearly fully retracted or at min/max angles, increasing safety and operator confidence.

High Comfort Air Suspension Seat, including longitudinal and low frequency suspensions. Many adjustments are available to allow the operator to find the most comfortable drive position.

There are also a number of tried and tested smart operating features still offered as standard:

SMS (Speed Management System), which allows the travel speed to be adjusted independently of the engine speed.

SHS (Smart Handling System), which allows the speed of the boom movements (lifting, telescoping and tilting) to be adjusted, depending on the type of work being carried out.

AFM (Auxiliary Flow Management), which allows the hydraulic output to be adjusted to match attachment requirements and to set a continuous flow.

FCS (Fast Connect System), which provides quick and easy interchange of hydraulic attachments via an integrated pressure-release system.

Another standard feature is the ECO mode which maintains optimum hydraulic performance without using the engine’s full power, adjusting the main machine features to produce a balance between top performance and providing the best performance/fuel consumption ratio.

· Second-hand machinery sales improving latterly with the Brexit vote and weakening currencies

With sales to over 100 countries worldwide, Cheffins has sold over 3,000 tractors and over 4,000 plant items throughout the year. With sales conducted at the Cambridge Saleground at Sutton, Cambridgeshire, and also on-site at farms and institutions all over the UK, Cheffins is continuing to dominate the second-hand machinery sales market on a global basis.

Cheffins celebrated 20 years in-situ at its 40-acre site in Sutton in Cambridgeshire in July which was marked by the introduction of a drive-through tractor auction, allowing bidders to see machines running during bidding. Dating back to the 1940’s and initially located in the centre of Cambridge, the sale has expanded from a few tractors and accessories to the largest sales of their type with approximately 3,000 lots sold per month.

Cheffins’ nationwide on site sales have also had stellar results across 2016. There have been 15 on site sales conducted with over 2,500 vintage and modern machinery items sold to a total value of over £3 million. On site sales have incorporated a mix of end user and dealer buyers from across the UK, as well as overseas purchasers from over 8 different countries. The sales have incorporated everything from record-breaking on site vintage auctions to smaller, dispersal sales for farmers and dealers on a national basis.

Against a backdrop of economic uncertainty, with questions over exchange rates, export legalities and agricultural funding, the second-hand farm machinery market has remained indomitable. In fact, Cheffins sales have grown year-on-year, with overseas purchasers looking to strike a bargain in the face of the weakening pound. The November sale saw the highest grossing sale of second-hand machinery recorded, with over £3.5m worth of machinery sold.

Bill Pepper, Director at Cheffins comments:

“The past 20 years at Sutton has seen Cheffins rise from strength to strength to now being the leading auctioneer in the second-hand machinery market. During the 20 years in-situ, we’ve seen the rise and fall of the Fordson Super Major trade to Syria, the influx of Eastern European buyers as borders fell, the devastation of Foot and Mouth, the astonishing Sudanese trade for the older Massey Fergusons and the introduction of online bidding to name just a few events, throughout which Cheffins has stood strong as the leading farm machinery sale in the industry.”

“With sales totals increasing regularly, we can really see that both the UK and export market for second-hand machinery is booming. The cocktail of rising prices for new tractors, lack of new tractor registrations, a shortage of stock for dealers and a drop in trade-ins has really brought the UK dealers back to our market. This, combined with the export trade making the most of a drop in the pound, has led to UK buyers vying against the foreign buyers and has in turn pushed up prices. We have also had a number of farmers entering stock to be sold as they see auction as the best way to achieve the highest prices for stock.”

A truly global business, Cheffins has over 30,000 registered buyers worldwide, with regular sales to Spain, Ireland, Germany, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Northern Africa. Over sixty per cent of lots are sent for export and over twenty per cent of sales in the past twelve months have been sold direct to the developing world. The top purchasers for 2016 were from Spain, Ireland, Poland, Belgium and Bulgaria.

The top five most expensive lots for 2016 include; £91,000 for a 2012 Case 7120 Axial Flow combine harvester; £88,000 for a 2011 combine of the same type; £84,000 for a 2015 John Deere 6195R; £68,000 for a 2010 John Deere C670i combine and £64,000 for a 2009 John Deere 8430.

Cheffins also specialises in sales of vintage machinery, with over £5.4m worth of classic items sold throughout 2016. Sales have included some of the rarest classic tractors, steam engines, motorcycles, commercials and rural bygones to ever reach the open market.

Please do come and say hello to the Cheffins Machinery team at LAMMA on stand R54.

The next sale will be on the 9th January, at Cheffins Machinery Sale Ground, Sutton, Ely, Cambridgeshire, CB6 2QT.
