Land Line Dead

How can it be that all 4 landline phones in the house are completely dead, but the broadband still works?

Usually it's the other way round if there is a line fault?

Can't get hold of EE, with whom I have a complete package, as my O2 pay-as-you-go mobile says "mobile network not available", despite having enough credit on it. Grrrrrr.

He said bb works on 1 wire whereas phone needs the pair

You should be able to find a mob friendly number on their website or just start a chat with one of their robots

Same thing here, been like it for 2 weeks reported in online as couldn't be bothered to spend an hour on the mobile talking to a muppet. Still waiting for it to be fixed. They are the most hopeless utility company I have dealt with.

Got a message off them yesterday to say they will be in touch again on 29th Dec to see how things are going.

Having been told that it wouldn't be repaired for up to a week, an Open Reach engineer came the next day. By the time that I knew that he was about, he had been working on it for 2 hours, climbing poles in the rain.

As for my mobile not working, I eventually got on to O2, and the chap had me clean the sim card and refit it. Something to do with a build up of static, he said. The stupid thing was that I have had the same problem before, but I had completely forgotten that.
