Large oversail for a shed

I was wondering what is the largest over sail I could put on the side of a shed with out requiring a second set of legs to make it into a lean to? ive got two sheds with a gap between them which I would like to cover over but the shed to the low side is too low to come straight off the side of with a lean to. The building on the high side is much taller so I wondered if an oversail maybe with some extra triangle bracing would be possible? the gap starts off around 18 foot wide and narrows to 8 foot at the far end of the shed. any body any good ideas? TIA

Yeah as eulb says, you can go that far if needed but your main issue will be the column you are fixing too, making sure its big enough. If you have another shed next to this shed which needs a lean-to, why not tie into it?

I will measure it today and see how big it is the problem with trying to join the next shed is the eves height is a bit lower than I would like driving into the front of the shed is ok but the bit of the yard above has been built up you'd struggle to get a tractor under. so I guess you could extend the legs if you really wanted to but then would you have to alter all the roof sheets and create a boundry wall gutter to take the water? (not sure if that's the right terminology).

Just bolt a spacer onto the existing leg to enable a another one to go up past the gutter and then just make the rafter over sail the existing roof to stop the rain blowing in, job sorted

trouble is its hellish tight turning into the alley between the sheds with a tractor (the mirror just about rubs past the shed leg) which I have to do quite a bit to feed one lot of cattle. I would love a little Kramer for our yard it would make life easy at times
