Build a nest in your trap with 3 or 4 eggs in it to get your first one. Best then to swap it with your neighbour for his first catch - we find you catch more local magpies if you use a 'stranger' for a call bird.

Note to self.... must get our trap out.

As above, but it didn't work for me until I scattered a few eggs in the vicinity of the trap, some broken. Once the birds are hooked on eggs, catching the first one gets easier.

I've had one like that set up for fortnight now mate with a cracked egg on top, and one with white bread scattered around. I'd caught 7 this time last year with same methods.
