Late RT inspections.

My RT inspection seems to be late this year.

The inspector normally gets in touch late February, and I normally manage to delay it until sometime in April. But this year I've heard nothing.

Our FA is through SAI Global and word locally is that they have some staffing issues and are behind schedule.

I'm not going to ring them up to see where they've got to!!! But is anyone else finding things a bit "quiet"?

Yes ours is renewed February and normally they come in March just after lambing. We ended up contacting them ourselves as didn’t want it dragging on too far into the spring, and they are coming tomorrow.

I thought they tried to push it to 18 months? Something about the rules allow it and that less inspections/cost is involved whilst seeing the farm at different times of year.

That last sentence and RT don’t go well together I know!

Our dairy RT inspection has always been 18 months, it was suggested by the assesor that he do our beef and lamb instead of fabbl. We agreed and have been inspected every 18 months for the past 8 years.
As milkloss says, gives a view of the farm and different times of the year.

Mine has always been Feb/March/April. As arable farmer I’d hate 18 months as we are very busy April-June spraying and fertilising, dead busy July-Oct. combining drilling etc decompressing in Nov, on holiday in Dec &Jan

So Feb March is perfect
Plenty of time to clean, polish, tidy up and make sure paperwork is spot on etc

Not that it’s not spot on the rest of the year just everything needs collating with i’s dotted and t’s crosses.

Thanks for all the replies.

I'm not sure if it's Sod's Law or just me and my big mouth, but guess who called today?....!

It still makes them about 4 weeks late, whereas in the past they seem to be pushing to get in earlier each year.

Oh well, I'll be glad when it's out of the way for another year.

We’ve been inspected every 11 months for the last 10 years although they seem to try every 10 months but normally delay them. This year the inspector phoned saying he would be coming the next Tuesday. Well my day wasn’t going the best and he got both barrels down the phone. Said I’d tell him when I’m ready and did so. He was a fine lad just seems to be a push to get 2 inspections a year from sqc.
