I should be ok, as long at Autumn is kind. The River Witham has turned a muddy colour which shows the ditches and dykes are doing their thing, so hopefully the land dries out. I will try and get some photos at some point.
That's what I said last September!! sh!t back end but as long as the springs kind we will be fine!!

If I really need to, I can lease out some land next winter, but I think if everyone else is struggling, milk price should go up so I shouldn't need to downsize.
That's probably been our problem this year, more cows and we've been caught out. Bought a post knocker and going to erect fences and tie more ground up for bales or pit silage. Easy to say this now but I never want to be in this position again!!

Got a Co-op meeting this week. We will work out a plan between us for worst case scenarios, we got temp staff on standby to work land. An Option being considered is using one of the 4 farms with the best land for summer cropping, and moving the stock to the other 3 for the summer, but its a royal pain and not something neither of us really want as it will be a nightmare to manage. I could end up with 750+ milkers over the summer!

What company are you milking for?

I mean which farming co-op.
LEMC, which is a small co-op set up between 4 independents with two Lincolnshire based farms and two in Notts. You won't find it listed.

It was set up primarily for staff and bulk purchases as around here dariy farms are few and far between so saves on costs. The farms themselves operate indepantly apart from that, but we do help eachother out. Looking at eachothers stock would mean trading as LEMC as a combined company and not a road we want to go down.
