Taxes are only designed to keep us under control. The idea that it goes into some pot and is then spent is no longer valid. Fiat currencies are now just a concept. It's why they need to get rid of cash. Because it's hard money and they hate that.

When you take out a bank loan, do you think they go to a vault and take out some used 50s to put into your account? No. It never existed. They just create it from fresh air. People just can't get their heads around that.

So, if nobody pays taxes, how does the country function?

Look where that is the case, and draw your own conclusions... taxes are a realistic necessity for a functioning modern society. That written, there's certainly a very good case for reforming tax systems here and elsewhere, and until it is above criticism - an unlikely situation in any foreseeable future - it should be a work in progress.

Anyway, @Pasty needn't worry, income tax is only a temporary thing, we were told this by the then PM, William Pitt the Younger, when he introduced it in 1799. (y)

If you do look where no taxation is the case, with the exception of countries like Somalia, it's a matter of being extremely wealthy before you apply for residency. ☹

That's my point; as far as I am aware there are only three scenarios in which states have no income tax: chaos; dictatorships; inclusive oligarchies. I'd rather pay my tax and live in an almost working democracy. :)

Should be the model on which we rebuild our economy. As most of these places are in the Caribbean, South America or the far east, we are very well placed. We can even expand to be The United Kingdom of England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Belize and Monaco. Happy days.

We'd be rolling in it. Plus we can double the price of fish and bathe in French tears for old time's sake.

It looks like Bozza and Cummings are planning on doing just, that turning the UK into a Banana republic.
