Lawnmower oil though engine filter

Being a daft twit, rather than dropping the deck out I tipped the ride on lawn mower onto its side in order to remove the blade and replace the smashed air assist fan plastic (some other daft twit mowed over a brick ).. result of this roll was the engine dumped all its oil out though the air intake :banghead::facepalm: What steps do I need to take before I try to restart the engine? I assume I need to replace the soaked air filter, and obviously refill the oil.... I have drawn as much oil as I can out of the air intake pipe with rags but there is still a quantity of oil trapped in there... would I need to turn the engine a few times with the spark plug removed in order to eject most of the oil still trapped in the air intake pipe and in pot?

If it’s a foam air filter, wash it out and re-oil it. If it’s paper, put a new one in there.

Drain all the old oil out. Refill with fresh oil to the correct level. Take the spark plug out, clean (and gap it).

Drop the drain plug out of the carb, turn fuel tap on and make sure your getting fuel flow from the tank. Replace drain plug on carb.

Turn the engine over several times by hand with the plug out to remove any excess fuel and oil in the chamber. Turn over engine with the starter now, still with plug out. Finally replace plug.

Fingers crossed. Fire her up.
