Ive been asked to find out what the legal width of a machine an 18 year old with a tractor and car license can take on the public highway. The machine in question will be a grimme potato harvester.

Same as everyone else, up to 3m ok, over 3 and up to 3.5 you need a Dispensation or notification to the police and 20 mph speed limit, between 3.5 and 4.3m as above but speed now 12 mph and needs an escort. If it's over 4.3 you need to notify the Secretary of State. If it's a self propelled machine and weighs over 7.5 tonnes he ( or she ) needs to be over 21.
