Been offered lettuce as a stock feed, is there any value in it apart from belly fill??

I doubt it and would expect them to turn to snot very quickly.

Lettuce is 95% water... or 5% dry matter silage is what 25% DM? so all being equal stock going to have to eat 5kg or lettuce to get the same dry matter intake as 1kg of silage.

Are they free? Probably need to be. Lettuce know how they do off them if you decide to go for it.

They often till lettuce under if the field is too wet or the retailers slow up on sales and they go past the optimum growth stage. Disposing of them is not new. There will be a fair few root/veg and salad growers who have had to incorporate something that has gone to far to be worth selling. Retailers won't take them in a month of Sundays.
