Sarah Wollaston who was elected as a Conservative MP, spent a while as an MP in the group formally known as Change UK has now decided that the only hope she has of staying an MP at the next general election is as a Lib Dem.
If she or any of the other MPs who have jumped ship had any respect for democracy or their constituents they'd call by elections

Wasn't she one of the ones who were nick named "Cameron Cuties" when Cameron was trying to "modernise" the party?
Incidentally wasn't she not a campaigner for legislation for automatic by elations if an MP changes party?
I see she now claims a by election is unnecessary at this instance because it would increase the government's majority.

This parliament badly needs the cancer cut out of it.
Yeah, the career politicians who have done either Law or PPE at Oxbridge, then called to the Bar or done research for a sitting MP,fought an election as a no hoper, then shooed in to a safe Labour or Tory seat-and never had a proper job in their lives. As apost to the likes of Sarah Woolaston,a genuine good MP! And i hope if she fights the Totnes constituency for the Lib Dems, she will win from her own personal standing.

I like Sarah Woollaston but if she or any other MP feels they can no longer remain a member of their party they should resign and a by election held.

Quite right.

Wasn't her constituency threatening to deselect her even before she jumped ship.

They were threatening to deselect her after she began to renege on manifesto pledges, i.e. she lied and they didn't like it.

I do believe you are right; the nauseating Chuka Umunna also supported the idea. Any MP who proposed such a thing and then rejects it in his own case is a liar and a hypocrite - it's a wonder that the arch-prig Nick Clegg left out 'lying' as a reason for an MP to be recalled, hmm, no it isn't. :(

Ain't he dead and gone?
Reincarnated as Boris Johnson Churchill...........KEEP CALM AND CARRIE ON............DIG A HOLE FOR VICTORY. Today,Johnson Churchill rebuffed propaganda about the fall of the pound,"the pound has not fallen. The pound will never fall.We will defend the pound particularly on the beaches where, admittedly, holidaymakers are not very happy about it at the moment". He declared: "Never in the course of human holidaymaking have so many exchanging pounds been owed so few Euros." Johnson Churchill concluded by praising his cabinet who are all sworn to secrecy about his strategy for Brexit. "I know that they will not give away our plans - because we dont have any". When asked if the cabinet contained the very best ministers the nation could offer, the PM replied," Give me the fools and i will finish the job". :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: ( an extract from the Daily Sketch,Private Eye.)

How can an MP voted in by the public that choose a certain political party then swap and change as they like???
Should never be allowed?
What's the legal positions?

They are your representative in Parliament. So I suppose it depends on whether you voted for them as an individual or just the party they are a member of. I would vote for a good local MP even if I didn't entirely agree with all their parties policies. I personally can't stand it were a party just parachutes some stranger in, just because is seen as a safe seat and the locals are to dense to ever change.

They do though.
And yes some go for party some for person.
But any change should be re election?
To be POLITICALLY correct i guess!

Oh?
Are they sticking with the Tory manifesto of 2017 or not?

Tories couldn’t form a majority government on that manifesto, which suggests that the country really didn’t want them to stick with it. They’re only in power as part of a coalition, really. Not really fair to criticise them for not fulfilling what the country didn’t actually want.
