The inaugural Lincoln Red Show Stoppers Calf Show and Sale held on Saturday 26th October 2019 saw the 1st in Bull Calf Class & Supreme Champion Calf, Auchmacoy Xerxes X484 from Mrs Buchan’s Auchmacoy Herd (Aberdeenshire) sell for 4,400 Gns. The Son of Auchmacoy Usama out of Auchmacoy Ethel P124, born in November 2018, sold to R I Clough & Son, Lincolnshire. Another son of “Usama”; Auchmacoy Xeno; out of Auchmacoy Eileen P114, November 2018 born; sold for 3,300 Gns to Nottingham Trent University’s Brackenhurst Herd, Nottinghamshire. Auchmacoy Xavier, also an “Usama” son out of Westacre Bianca H43; December 2018 born; sold for 3,000 Gns to Rand Farm Park, Lincolnshire. The 1st placed Heifer Calf & Reserve Champion Calf; from Rob Mawer’s Premier Herd; , January 2019 born Premier Yasmine Y069, out of Foulness Ultra by Yarn Hill Bianca T308; sold for 1,400 Gns to John Capp’s Handley Herd, Nottinghamshire. Top priced Heifer, was Michael Read’s Hemingby Polly W1131; a Hemingby Illustrious daughter out of Hemingby Polly U977; in calf to Brackenhurst Viper. She sold for 3,400 Gns to Tom Green’s Chestnut Tree Herd, Lincolnshire. The Supreme Champion Heifer, in calf to Brackenhurst Warrior, Auchmacoy Bianca W419, sired by Beverley Samson out of Auchmacoy Bianca T228, bred by Mrs S Buchan, Ellon, Aberdeenshire; sold for 3,000 Gns to the new Sanday Herd, of Mr J Drever, Sanday, Orkney. The Reserve Champion Heifer, daughter of Foulness Ultra out of Holyoak Orchid R145, from Rob Mawer’s Premier Herd; Premier Xclusive X053, this March 2018 born maiden heifer, also went to the Sanday Herd, selling for 2,400 Gns. Also selling for 2,400 Gns each were: Michael Read’s Hemingby Connie W1090 sired by “Illustrious” out of Hemingby Connie H338 and in calf to Brackenhurst Viper; Hemingby Mattie W1093 sired by Auchmacoy Oakley out of Hemingby Mattie R805 and in calf to Hemingby Illustrious; Hemingby Treasure W1130 sired by “Illustrious” out of Hemingby Treasure T963 and in calf to Brackenhurst Viper – all three went to Iken Hall’s Yarn Hill Herd, Suffolk. Mrs S Buchan’s Auchmacoy Heroine W431 sired by Auchmacoy Langworth out of Walmer Heroine J41 sold to County Durham. Mrs S Buchan’s Auchmacoy Lucy W433 sired by Auchmacoy Langworth out of Auchmacoy Lucy P108, in calf to Brackenhurst Warrior, sold for 2,200 Gns, to Will Jackson’s Othorpe Herd, Leicestershire. Michael Read’s Hemingby Orchid W1099 sired by Auchmacoy Oakley out of Hemingby Orchid R804, in calf to Brackenhurst Viper sold to Yarn Hill Herd, Suffolk; From T I Hunter’s Lindsey Herd, Lincolnshire, Wragby Miss W235 (bred by Geoff Bolton) sired by Houghton Smuggler out of Wragby Miss L13 in calf to Walmer Piper, sold to Oliver Brayne’s Long Croft Herd.
Scott Donaldson and Heather Pritchard also commented on how well the Sale had gone, “such good clearance; when taking into consideration the current climate”. President, Chris Page, thanked all Vendors for supporting the Sale and for turning out such tidy looking Lincoln Reds – which was reflected in the prices. He said 93% clearance was very pleasing. He also thanked Auctioneer, Scott Donaldson, the Pedigree Sales & Marketing Manager, Heather Pritchard, and the NLM Team for all their help in making the Sale such a success.
