I am surprised Yorkshire is going a head. Our committee cancelled a local show last week as the financial risk was too great after a substantial loss last year.

Well I will come down to the Devon County Show and see all my S Devon friends then!!

I would be very surprised if the Devon County goes ahead either..

On a normal year they get about 35k people a day attending + the staff working on site...

Honiton one day show is now planned to be held over 2 days to reduce the number of people on site at any one time, they would get say 20k people on a normal 1 day show so working roughly on 10k a day this year, which would mean the likes of DCC would have to run over 12 days to get numbers low enough.

Reality is no shows will go ahead this year, it wont be untill at least May that 2 family's can meet up outdoors so how the hell are we going to go from that to the point where 10/20k people can meet up on a showground just 6 weeks later?? just not going to happen sadly ( and wrongly )

And that is before you take into account the 2 meter rule which certainly will still be in place all summer + even if the show's do go ahead it will be under very strict conditions, mask wearing/ no free food/drink/ tasters/ one way systems/ no going into tents etc etc..

I would love to see how with thousands of folks they could enforce mask wearing ,,if the weather is blistering hot ,the last thing anybody is going to worry about is trying to breath through a mask and sweating like a pig ,sure as I wouldnt be wearing one .

If Wembley is to host plenty of games for the Euro’s at 1/3 to 1/2 capacity then I see no reason an outdoor show won’t be able to be hosted in June/ July

Wembley will have marked spots, you stand/sit on that spot and not move.

How would that work with an outdoor show?

And how will the figures stack up if a show that normally has say 20k paying customers a day is only allowed 5/10k customers per day?

I really hope all the shows/ events go ahead as this BS has gone on far too long already but i fear a lot of people are in for a very big shock!

My local show has said they are going ahead in July in a secure covid way, well if that means they have to stick to anything like current rules ref covid it will be anything but a fun day out!

We all need something to look forward to.

Let's all stick to one show to keep numbers down.
Any thoughts on General Public being restricted as well?
