Lincospectin or Lincocin

Wanting to footbath lambs with mix of CODD and Footrot/scald.
Is Lincocin as effective as Lincospectin.
Lincocin approx £22 for 150grams Lincospectin £56 for the same, how much difference does the Spectomycin make?

Also what is the dilution rate for foot bathing? If you mix it the same as for giving pigs in drinking water its approx 150grams to 1800 litres of water, seems very weak but if that works it's a very cheap footbath.

I have jagged them with Betamox LA but want to footbath as well to speed up recovery.

Is formalin not cheaper to use? 25litre for £20? 1 litre formaldehyde per 19litres of water for footrot or double it for CODD?

We use tylan powder in the footbath. It's a lot cheaper than lincospectin. Not been able to get lincocin from the vets recently. As for effectiveness you'll just have to try it and see. There's no doubt lincospectin is better but if something cheaper does the job then all the better.

As for dilution rate, best results with the whole pot 150g into the standard footbath 10' X 3' X six inches, not sure how many litres that is. Probably approaching 200 litres ish ???

I don't like using formalin unless it's just for preventative treatment. I don't think it helps lame sheep in any way. Using an ab footbath is far better as treatment (but more expensive) and far far kinder.

Think a lot of vets are stopping it because of antibiotic useage, strange one because end up using more Terramycin spray and alamycin whereas one simple pass through lincospectin and not over used stopped lame lambs straight away!

Is the NEC a better venue for LAMMA?
