Linear Actuators..

I have a fancy robot feeder. The feed door is controlled by a 24 volt linear actuator. This device is fugeed/ on its last legs. A replacement (from Trioliet) is 2200 quid.. this is a ram that should last a lifetime...

its a 24 volt simple polarity dependent actuator 2500kn .. 500 mm stroke.

Bit of a niche product but anyone got any thoughts on repair / replacement

I suspect the 'leccy motor on it is conking out..

Hollin applications are the go to for actuators in this country

Have you thought about servicing it yourself? Motors are usually available if you spend time online. Do you know how it's limit control works, electrical load sensing or internal microswitches?

plenty of companies about such as
I have no connection with them.

edit to add: I ask about the limit switching because the issue might be on the ecu for the machine similar to jd round balers.

The limit switching appears to be simple time setting. The speed of the door from open to closed is set at 10 seconds.. is known. You can adjust seconds you want door to open so a little bit of feed goes a long way . I think 🤔 that it simply activates the circuit for the required time..
There are only 2 wires to the motor. They come direct from the contractors.

The only other way it senses a blockage or that the door is closed would be an auto reset overload in the contactor circuitry..
