Linemarker - best colour

Anybody have any views on the best colour line marker paint?

I know it depends a bit on the surface - some show up better on grass, concrete etc. but wasn't sure if there is a universal colour that's most useful. Red and blue seem popular - I've tried yellow before and white with mixed results.

As above. Blue is the best and most universal.
depending on the Job your using it for, ie. if contractors involved then the different colours have different meanings if marking out services.

I did used to know what all the colours meant we used em on the RAF jobs so had to know, but can’t remember them all but some are :-

Blue - drinking water
Red - electric
yellow - gas or anything explosive
Green - sewerage or drains
white - general marking

then theres still some other colours left

Same as pipe colours and marker tape I think.

I always use the white permanent marker paint for marking spaces out. Being `permanent` it lasts forever or 3 months,,,whichever comes first

Yellow, it’s handy for marking a few potholes the council miss when they mark them [emoji12]

Our council have taken to recording the location of every pothole and measuring them now because people started doing exactly that! Be cheaper to put twice the number of guys on the tarmac job than it would to have a "surveyor" going round recording and measuring.

We found white become dirty on a painted concrete floor with vehicles in and out. After a while they couldnt be seen,

Yellow on the 2nd go much better.

red is sewer with tape I think? Electric is yellow.

ours number them as well. The only way around it to rub out the marks at one end and extend it on a bit if as usual they only do half the holes!
That won't work around here - they're given pictures of the work to be done. Ironically half the time it takes more effort & cost to arrange the works than the actual job itself. In the old days they used to have a roving hotbox wagon & team to do the smaller stuff, unfortunately that got knocked on the head supposedly because quite a bit of tarmac ended up filling potholes off the carriageway ;);)!
