Livestock markets payments systems

Completely agree. Not so easy when they dont answer the phone or hide when they go to take a bill over though. A mate of mine tried doing a round baling and wrapping round and he couldnt believe how some well respected farmers would act. One he could see crawling around his house on his hands and knees thinking he couldnt be seen througg the windows! A lot wouldnt answer the phone and a few drove off as he turned up in the yard looking for money. Just saw his truck turn up they would jump in theirs and drive away. Some of the things he told me were unbelievable from who everyone thought were decent people :cautious::mad:
I don't know how some people sleep at night

A poor excuse. Phone call as soon as it is overdue, debt collectors letter shortly after and follow through. Word will soon get round. I know a chap who was a bit lax on collecting money, 300k owed etc. His wife took over collecting and put procedures in place and the money soon came in. I'm fed up of people whinging on here of folks not paying, but think that sending a text is chasing. The legal system is on your side but you actually have to use it!

You're not reading me right - it's out of 1 account in 2 days, and is earning interest (or saving debit interest) in the recipient's account from that same day, just not available for withdrawal at that stage as technically it can still be stopped.

Google how a cheque clears - the 2-4-6 system that all the main banks signed up to some years ago.

I think that they will clear sooner with the new system of scanning cheques with your phone, but I guess cheques will gradually be phased out anyway. When they talked about doing so a few years ago, there was an outcry, and I was among the grumblers. But it wouldn't worry me now - the business has written about 5 cheques in the last 10-12 months.
"as technically it can be stopped".Have you ever tried to do this? A few years ago i wrote a cheque out for over£2000 for a jack-ass who did some roofing work for me.He was a part scrap dealer as well, and when he finished he walked with some of my quite good and usable grain augers, and other metal bits and pieces. When i found out,i rushed in to my bank to stop the cheque, but was just told,"you are too late, the cheque has been cashed and there is nothing we can do about it" This was within 4 days of me writing the cheque out!

a neighbour sent a bullock over to Thainstone on Thursday night , over 200 miles away ,sold Friday for a very good price , cheque was on his breakfast table Saturday morning arrived by post, you can't get better than that.

I don't know it was a long trip for the bullock

Their problem really, they should give their T&C in writing before doing the work to the Client, 30 days after payment due, and not paid and the reminder letters sent, start proceedings...
How many marts slaughter houses have you agreed terms with?
Invioce usually has terms on it?

Why should it come to this and the court system is not the most simple process and very time consuming

True enough, but we are dealing with the real world where there are numerous arseholes that we all have to deal with on a regular basis.... :-(
you can say that again I have had a few that I wouldn't pee on if they were on fire I would throw a can of petrol on them, but never mind the f**kers are older than me and with a bit of luck will die first then I can dance on their f**king grave, If I die first I won't give a sh!t :sneaky::sneaky:
Not that I am bitter and twisted or anything

no certainly not the nearest , but whats the difference to the beast, it still would have to travel the same distance or further once its bought and loaded up at a closer mart, they go over there or down the way same miles anyway, in a lorry with others. Get treated a lot better there than at any other marts , can't see any of them doing internet coverage the way the animals come into the ring. Bigger ring less stress , professional quick, not the general mayhem that goes on other places
