Aye up,

I’m reasonably sure it’s been covered before, but what are the legalities with different sizes of telescopic loaders and young drivers?

He has a full driving licence.

Cheers, Pete.

Blimey Pete you really need to keep up, it’s been done a million times on here. Telescopic loaders need a cat B license and you can drive one up to 3.5 tonnes at 17, at 18 you can drive one between 3.5 tonnes to 7.5 tonnes and if over 7.5 tonnes you need to be 21.

Telehandlers are driven on a cat B license so the driver needs to have passed a car test, then it up to 3.5 tonnes for 17 year olds, up to 7.5 tonnes for 18 year olds and only over 7.5 tonnes if you are over 21.5

Also if you tow with one and have passed your test after January 1997 you need B+E car and trailer license to do so legally.
