View attachment 1080379I had a cheeky bid on this a while ago but was out bid 😂 always liked the look of these 😂
Mate had one of those for years on a large (at the time) dairy farm down in Cheshire. Used to buckrake with it in a big shed, think they put duals on the front. I used it for loading spreaders once, good machine once you got in ito_O 30 odd thousand hours when it went.
Wasn't a stranger to the mechanic though.

We bought a CAT 924G not too long ago, 2006 I think 6000 ish hours for 16,000 I think it was. Far far better for mucking out and loading grain lorrys than a tele handler even though we're using the the same attachments on the shovel, its so ontop of the job its effortless, the lifting power on it is something else it just doesn't stop.

Not sure how it would fair on a pit though, bags of pushing power but I think it would be inclined to get a bit hot.

It's a bit blind for pallet fork work but you get used to it.

Thanks for the info , kind of made my mind up , i shall be on the look for a tidy one and keep my tele for the smaller jobs .
Don't get put off by the high hours. Where I work there is an L90 with approx 29,000 hours. Runs perfectly, doesn't give any bother and still does 5-600 hours per year. Would be rare to see a teleporter with those hours.

@Hilly May not be the right machine but a loadall with 6k hrs wouldn't be much cheaper
Are loadalls not usually bit knackerd at 6k hrs ? Probably better with two old ones as one new right enough. I just thought these big shovels are aome machine for the money and would last me a serious amount of years rather than these teles that get to 5-6 k hrs ……. Time will tell what i do ….

Farm in the village always used one on the clamp, came from here. I think the first was ex Government, army or the like, 10 years old and less than a thousand hours.

Shovels are Easier on them selfs than telehanders in regards to pivots pins are set farther apart and are heavier per hp but weight needed for pushing and saving tyre ware

Z linkage is good brakeout but poor visibility for pallet forks hence the parrel linkage on jcb farm shovels and cat tool handlers

Keep an eye on parts availability though, even Volvo and Cat are less reliable for older machines, let alone the also rans. It's ok having a 30yr old shovel in nice order (our L50) but no bloody good when you have to spend a week ringing round looking for some stupid little seal kit. ok for bigger parts as plenty of aftermarket supplies. when we ran Case the parts supply was hopeless at 10yrs, hence they are cheap I guess? Then do you have 2 older in case 1 has an off day, or swap it in for something less reliable, possibly more hours but newer? Anyone selling an older straight L50 with under 15k hours cheap;)
