Locking headyokes for calves

Anyone using them to feed milk to calves? Have some calves in group hutches, which is great from a health point of view but it's the age old problem of the dominant fast drinkers taking more than their share from the others:mad: I want to be able to pour the milk, move on to the next lot and come back to check they've supped and release them 5 minutes later. Ringing round for prices but was wondering if anyone on here can recommend anything? Thanks, Flossie

Bit excessive getting yokes for calves , I used to put the greedy calves together and the slow un's similar ,do you have trouble with them eating your teats @Flossie ,
had 1 group which were buggers for it ;)

We picked up a couple at a farm sale, brilliant things. no idea what make though sorry.

another thing you can do is to feed them outside the pen and then push the quicker drinkers back in once they finish, probably a bit of a hassle with hutches though

Got a couple that are never happy which teat they're on(n) Innuendo aside, :) my grandad used to knock the greedy ones back with the whisk when they'd had their fill :rolleyes: but standing in the pen getting chewed and nutted while the slow ones sup up isn't an efficient use of my time, or much fun either:confused: Just trying to get the best use out of the multimax hutches while we have calves piling up everywhere:)

i always group calves according to how fast they suck

as others have said group according to drinking speed

you really think sam will let you buy something that he could knock up in the workshop

The ones at the minute are all good suppers, they just seem more interested with what their mates have got:mad: Got a couple of prices today and Teemore are getting back tomorrow. Of course, my brother-in-law will be able to make them for quarter of the price, but the calves will have gone through Burger King by the time he's knocked them together:rolleyes:(n)

@eulb
these came with our group hutches when we bought them second hand
the uprights just lift out if needed and slot into a piece of box bigger than the upright so as to give enough movement
i dont use them for milk calves as they are too short for my hurdles to lock into
previous chap used to lock them in for dehorning, ringing etc
if used with a wyedale or similar it would ned another cross piece at a better height
