Long haired Border collie wanted

Hi all, I am based in Edinburgh.. I am looking to adopt if possible a long haired Border collie ..I am not looking for a working dog ..just a companion...maybe a dog who did not make the grade or perhaps a dog that recently has come to the end of its working life..Sadly I recently lost my collie Miska to cancer and to be honest have found it hard to find a suitable dog from the rescue centres as most if not all need to go to a dog free home. The problem is that another member of the family has a dog( My collies pup actually)So would be looking for a sociable dog which can get on with other dogs...if you you have or know of a dog that needs rehoming please pm me..many thanks..steven

I can't help you directly but just wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss; it's always awful and I really hope you can find another dog very soon

There's a few real keen collie fans on here and I know we'd all be saying the same

sorry for your loss, id be lost without my two can make the most glib days seem abit brighter. Hopefully theres someone on here who does have a dog who is not fitting in with their situation and would be happier for them to be loved by someone than spend their days as a spare part

As negative as it seems the RSPCA etc all seem to make it nye on impossible to rehome a dog we tried a few years ago because our whole property isn't ring fenced they cant allow us to adopt, but someone in a tiny house with a postage stamp garden can?

Best wishes.

Thank you so much for your concern. Very thoughtful of you...Yes it is so hard to give a dog a loving home and when members of society are willing to pay £2000, £3000 now for a dog when there are so many dogs needing a home it is quite despairing..there are just to many hoops to jump when applying , of course a dogs welfare is there main concern , I get that , but a lot of dogs are missing out on a forever home due to certain restrictions .

Hi Walton , yes a beardie would be great..to be honest with you I would love to give any medium to large dog a home ...I'm a dog person and need a dog in my life ...just wonderful creatures .... I had such an amazing relationship with Miska , and his passing has left such a void in my life...just want to give a dog a loving home

I presume by now you have found your forever friend
Hi BevsyDee, thank you for your post. No not yet. I keep thinking I am ready to get another companion but to be honest with you I am not yet over the grieving process. I know , I'm a 55 Yr old guy but I miss him terribly. He was my life for 10 hrs.

I’ve just seen your post and I’m sorry for your loss.i know it’s not what you want to hear but in my opinion we never get over the loss of a much loved pet,but just learn to live with it.i have 3 collies, all pets at 18/30 months and 13.5 years.ive allways got another ASAP after loosing one which may be right or wrong but the deceased dog is not returning.still miss my last deceased collie called Amy,terribly and occasionally have a tear thinking about her.im soon of down to my mums and I’ll pass the graves of mine and my late dads dogs and I’ll speak to them all as I do every day.some reading this will think I’m stupid but I love dogs more than most people but that’s just me.im sure you have a lot to fear a new companion and another will help the grieving process but never replace the deceased friend.find a new friend and I wish you all the best

Thank you for your messages nick, your kindness has helped me immensely. I feel I can move on after our chats. I could not work out how to send pic in pms. DOH! So put it on the main board. Just an old pic of Miska before he became unwell. Hope you like it.
