Well yes but they are too big to fit in the top of the tank and I don't want to go cutting it coz I will use the tanks againWouldn't a submersible pump work
It is very thick last year I picked up the ibc and drove up and down the pit with the tap open fully on the forks while packing the layers but it flows out quite slowly.Does molasses require a special type of pump? It can be quite viscous when cold, Angus.
It probably had a heater on it.We used to have a molasses transfer vessel for our 1960`s Alvan Blanch mill / mix unit. If I remember right it used to work by compressor with the air displacing the molasses into a spray line in the mixer, I can`t remember whether one had to water it down before starting...…..

Called a wilden pump. You need an air operated double diaphragm pump. Also called a peanut pump as they are used to pump peanut butter
Mono pump. Or rotor stator. Only problem would be a clean water feed to the packing gland or mech seal, depending what you put on.I think that what you need is the type of pump that used to be fitted to Molex slurry tankers. It's a positive displacement (not a vacuum) pump. It uses a corkscrew shaped rotor inside a rubber tube.
Local farmer years ago had a tractor mounted pump to spray molasses onto the pit. Try asking your molasses supplier,Rumenco or United Molasses,if their still trading, as I haven’t used molasses for years.I need a pump to empty ibc tanks of molasses onto the pit silage as I make it having no luck in finding such a thing
Sugar is what powers the bacteria which produce the lactic acid. Low sugars and the produce tends towards butyric.A quick question from dullard’s corner:
What does mixing the molasses in when filling the pit do?
I have a basic grasp on putting acids and biologics onto the grass but have no idea what sugar does during the fermenting.
