Good afternoon.
Myself and a friend currently live in Weymouth, Dorset and we are both new to metal detecting and would really love to get into the hobby.
I am seeing if any person would be kind enough to offer me their land/part of their land to conduct metal detecting on. I of course would be happy to meet anyone in person beforehand to discuss the possibility before any agreement was to be made including a signed agreement between both parties.
I want you to know that I respect all property that I conduct my hobby on, and always leave it in the same condition in which it was found. Normally the items I find are no deeper than a few inches, and I retrieve them in such a manner that the ground appears undisturbed. This goes for pastures, ploughed land and woodland. Any rubbish I find along the way (such as small pieces of scrap metal, nails etc.) I would of course dispose of. I am very mindful that farming land is a precious commodity and something which needs to be safeguarded/respected accordingly.
Should I uncover anything particularly interesting, valuable or important then I would always share this information with you. As I feel it’s important to give back to any person who is kind enough to offer the use of their land. If the item is worth on any value then I am happy to split the costs 50/50 as long as you are happy with this agreement.
I am a member of the National Council for Metal Detecting (NCMD), which means I abide by a strict code of conduct, and I am fully insured through public liability insurance. I of course would be more than happy to provide any documentation to support my legitimacy.
I can be contacted via the forum or via my email address which is [email protected]
Kind Regards Scott
