I haven't been in a wagon for a while, just back this morning on the Zeebrugge Hull ferry.

It's my first time in this lorry, handy large diesel tanks, auto gearbox is useful, the beds are very comfy and all in all the motor pulled well. The supersingles do make it sure footed.......something which makes a difference on the Italian motorways up to Frejus!

A once off, or are you "driving" ?
Nice outfit ..........

The lads that stay out all the time, must find it tough with a family .....
Fly home for the weekend and back out on a Sunday, Ryanair ........

I was driving, I used to fetch them all but in recent years others have driven the lorry for me.

I wouldn't want to run continental full time, they are never home and live in service station loos!

I do like going out and seein what's new in Italy! Although the region is not quite at the cutting edge of R&D as it once was.

I used to top up my earnings in December by doing a few Italy runs - good fun but not much sleep tachometer cards usdd get blown out of the window
Remember the Frejus well but think I only ever saw it in the dark.

The arrival of the digital card has put an end to most "card out o the window moments!" I'm nearly always transiting Frejus in the dark! It's a lot better now on both sides, the pull up is a smooth shallow gradient so these big engines lorries don't loose their stride!

This takes me back! Jesi, Modena, Turin and then back to sunny Basildon! usually with tractors on board.
Been through the Frejus more times than I care to remember, though not for a while, in the summer its quite unpleasant with all the exhaust fumes.

How far down the leg did you go to get the mills?

The Frejus must be the best tunnel of al, came throug last monthl. Hate tunnels just miles of continual boring motorway underground with concrete walls and lights coming towards you. But this one is nearly bearable.

I dropped at Rimini and picked up at the Caravaggi factory at Pontoglio between Bergamo and Brescia, a well worn route since 1984!

So many drivers/ex drivers on here. used to be full time myself, trailers from Immingham purfleet and felixstowe. Only driven wagon once abroad one way a couple of weeks ago. Drove a fire engine back from switzerland for a friend. Nice trip he flew me down and paid all expences. The only ball ache was customs on the German swiss boarder. I also came back zeebrugge hull.
Only had a MAN for one week once on holiday cover (MAN truck you barstewards), it drove ok but I could never get comfy on a night either sat down or on the bunk.
Not been full time since 2004. Nice to do a bit occasionally but would only ever go back full time if I really had to. Due to driving standards now and how bad we seem to get treated nearly everywhere we go.
And the way VOSA or whatever they call themselves this week treat us.
only done Frejus once on the bike on the way to Mugello
