Luing cattle .

Has anyone any experience of this breed , we saw some at Kilnsey show & apparently they’re a docile breed which do well on lesser quality grazing .

Good breed. They are perfect for moorland and rough grazing. Not to big, quiet and produce a calf that is saleable. I now buy luing bullocks to summer graze the moor

Onto our second bull now to breed our own cows.Doing the job we used to use an angus for with the hope of getting better foragers for the hill and more milk.Very pleased with results so far.Put to simmental for first two calvings and then to charolais. The only thing I would say is I definitely wouldn't call them docile especially around calving.

They do well for us, no temperament issues here but they have been here for a while now

Had them since 2006, only had one with temperament issues at calving time who went this year as she was empty. She had calved 8 times for us though, we/she learnt to steer clear of each other for a couple of weeks post calving and after that she settled down fine.

Moved the cows this morning, from the intake to the fell. They will be out on the fell now till they come down for winter in early November
