Main drain running full bore

Out of interest , is it possible to put the suction hose of a pump into a main drain that is running pull bore, to move the water downstream quicker and give gravity a bit of help ?

Yeah why not. If you suck enough out fast enough,the land will dry faster then you"ll be able to get summat planted.

Remember to Stop sucking early enough. I did it once and left it too long.
Sucked well over an acre of my best field into the drain before realising.
I believe it was exactly the same thing that caused this

On a serious note, that flowing water is doing more to suck the water out than your pump will.
