Mains energiser earth questions?

Putting in a 36 joule energiser and looking for a bit of help with the earthing system. Need to put in 15-2m rods in for earthing into a boggy bit of ground. Problem is the nearest boggy ground is about 500m away from the steading (we sit on a rock head). Will join the rods with insulated cable between them but can I take the earth back to the energiser with 2.5mm high tensil on insulators along the top of the fence line? Also can the rods be buried completely in the ground with the insulated cable buried as well? Was wanting to do this so had no little rods sticking out the ground to catch a beasts feet. Have ask the rappa people but not much idea unfortunately. Any help greatly appreciated. TIA

Why run your earth wire at the top of the fence with insulators and using insulated cable between the earth rods? You are trying to get as much contact with the ground as possible. I would run a plain wire on the ground from your energiser to your earth rods, it will soon grow in and be a big help to your earth. If you completely bury your earth rods then where you connect the wire to the rods is likely to corrode giving you a poor earth in a few years time and being a pain to find and redo the connections.
My current earth for a 32j unit is just one roll of plain wire laid down a ditch that is unlikely to ever be cleaned out. It is working as well as all our previous attempts with proper earth rods. I have also used lots of fences with well grown in rabbit netting as good earths you just need good connections.

We recently put one in and the the secured the energyser to one of the Galvy Steel H beams of the shed so for the earth we loosened a bolt holding a barrier up and slipped the earth wire once around the bolt then tightened it back up again!!

Couldn't ask for a better earth [emoji3][emoji3]

I hope it's not a cattle shed, as stock can get shocks off the earth.

We have a redundant GI water main that we use. I think the full scale x number of 2 metre steel posts is sufficient for the most difficult situations unlike our generally humid environment.

On a livestock building cattle can get a shock, and all kinds of problems with stray voltage, can cause mastitis
Interesting!

I only ask as "hopefully" soon once we get around to fencing a new part of our farm out the back of our bull pens we were looking at putting up a 2nd box and installing it on the side of a H Beam on the bull pens!

May need to rethink

Do not do that! When you are designing a mains fencer earth, you have to consider where the building electricity supply earth is and put the fencer earth as far away as practicable. Therefore it might be a good idea to have a length of insulated wire leading away from the unit before it becomes bare and in contact with the ground.

I knew someone who had a gateway that cattle wouldn't go through, turns out the length of crash barrier that was used as an earth was buried there, and the cattle were getting a shock. Once it was moved tbere was no problem.
