Mains energizers

I'm looking to replace our 12v energizers on permanent electric fencing with mains powered energizers.

Normally the 12v energizer is sited next to the fence and attached with croc chips but I want to run the mains from buildings. Is it a case of just running a lead out cable from the energizer in the building and how does the attach to the fence?

Connect up just as you do now. Make sure you have a good earth for a permanent set up .(instruction book for new energizer will tell you how)

In the middle.
We just run an insulated cable from the energizer in the shed to a switch were your old energiser would of been so you can turn it on and off without having to run back to the shed. From the switch we run another insulated wire to the fence which is either just wrapper around the mian wire or fitted on with a bolt.

that's what i'm thinking. is the "lead out" cable just a twin core cable?

Just use lead out cable to fence and one to earth. Best idea for reliable earth was two sections of crash barrier in their fell length with the post basher.

No, use proper lead out cable
Definitely use proper lead out cable. Mains wire is NOT made to insulate a 5-10kv supply.

We went mains after having had 5 batteries stolen from our fencer in a year but then we are neighbours with the county's largest traveller emporium. No issues since.

Also, if you get a decent one, the shock is strong enough to burn off most vegetation that touches the line. A decent earth is a must though, especially on our sandy ground.
