Maize 2016

Miles away here in North Shropshire. Was drying nicely until Easter, since then getting steadily wetter. Ground to wet travel on, cold and damp and getting worse. 10 days to a fortnight away at best!
Will, I heard a couple of fields have gone in near you.
One of my neighbours has drilled a field, no muck, just min tilled it in. It was maize last year. Be interesting how it does.
We're two weeks away I think.

Just come in, only because I have got the muck spreader stuck! My own stupidity really. As I was walking back got caught in a snow/rain shower. No rush here, frosts most mornings.

Next field but one, will have something to look at in the morning! Do they do a night shift as they have covered some ground?
Don't think they work a night shift, just quite late. He said the best was 70 acres in a day. Started here today, until the rain came.

Wonders if ground is better ploughed earlier to allow the sun to warm the "top" ?

I only just planted my peaa and oats due ro the cold weather
Probably Had 3/4 of the coldest mornings of the winter here the last few days .Planting our peas and oats next week .Hopefully
