Maize 2023

I’m sure you already have but I’d get a plan B lined up.

Is all this really forward maize going to mean exceptional yields or good yields and early maturing?
Be disappointed of that block isn't 8ft before it tassles in 3 weeks.
How many true leaves does a maize plant have?
Went in and no stress. Wonder if 10th May is better than 25th April for planting.

Also, last good few years maize has been harvested in early September. Hopefully that continues. Harvest in dust and get the next crop in is worth a good few quid

When did you plant that!
25th May. I did say I found a new way to measure it. I was a bit tired so I sat down 🤣 looks impressive from down there.
Its nice & dark green now so hopefully its hit what is underneath it. Getting a bit dry though, not had any sensible rain for god knows how long.

Speaking of new ways to measure it, had a cow inspecting mine yesterday. Drilled 17th may and hasn’t looked back

The cow or the maize hasn’t looked back?
the cow hasn't looked back, its still trying to find the way back out !

we drilled a field of maize with a combination drill, so no lines. Nothing wrong with the crop, but as soon as you went into it, within a few meters, you were completely dis-orientated.

had a calf go into it, and tried to find it, failed, it came back to its dam eventually, son went into look for it, and came out, in a completely different side, to where he thought.
