Maize after potatoes

We still have some potatoes in the ground that are in different fields that we are still hopeful of harvesting, this probably wouldn't be done until mid April/may as we don't think it will dry up until then?

The thinking was with the late planting date maize would be more suitable than a spring crop, is there any reason you wouldn't recommend this other than compaction issues?

The only problems I see with this is massive potash removal from both potatoes and maize, secondly you might end up with another late wet harvest from maize.
Is the maize for yourself, I would put it down to a 2 year grass ley I think this a brilliant restorative tool.
Hope this helps

Maize after potatoes will work, but need to keep on top of volunteer potatoes, which isn.t too big a problem if you can convince the man who sows it to leave enough of a headland to turn the sprayer ;) Hurler is what we spray with i think, it helps retard other weeds as well

What variety or varieties have you got left to dig? Think grass will be as good as anything to put in after like mentioned before, possible to get one cut off and then drill wheat. Maize harvest could do more damage to the ground.
