Maize silage

Have the chance of some maize handy money. Some suckler cows could do with picking up condition. On good quality silage. Could maize be fed ad lib to improve or not advisable.

Calved yet or not? i always thought too much maize made them sick and should be mixed with atleast 25% grass silage imo . I wouldnt be getting them fat on maize silage before calving

Calving in 3 week's. Main are looking well just a few older cows.

We’ve been giving bit of maize for years to leaner cows. Must mix with grass silage. Lost a cow last year as we just alternated blocks of maize and grass silage in passage without mixing and this cow took a liking to the maize...
