Make sure sitting nose uphill when you fill it ,run pto at about 400rpm , and should fill to top glass ? Close sucking valve when noise changes ,

Is it mixed slurry? Also what type of slurry cattle or pig? I have a 3250 Major and depending even on what type of pig slurry ie. from the 1st stage house, I have to keep revs at take over or it comes in too fast and froths up and 3/4 fills! But generally all other slurry it fills full!

Running the pto any faster than 370 rpm doesn't make it fill any faster , it's just harder on the pump. When the noise changes turn off the pto first , then go to the filling valve and you will hear slurry still going up the pipe , wait for about 20 seconds to let it fill the top of the tank. Then shut it down take off the pipe and slowly change the pump over to empty letting out the vacuum pressure with the handle in the middle . I see some lads change it over too quick and then have to wait to pump out the pressure and wait for it then to build it back up.

Our 2500 hi-spec rarely fills full either, like you say, when you slowly let pressure off it disappears out of top right glass.

I always close handle first then switch pto off, will try the other way round this afternoon.

Thank yours for replys had a abbey 2000 gals before always full ,when starting off in field pump would be barking after about 2 or 3 seconds before you release it, when you see slurry disappearing from top glass when the valve is closed and pump in neutral is annoying and the surging of tanker on the road ,done the 10 and 15 second bit with pto off which helps ,

A turbo filler will nearly eliminate your problem. What you are dealing with is physics, it's not a problem with Major, it's a problem with trying to suck slurry full of tiny air pockets with a vacuum.

Didn't happen with the Abbey does it with pig or cattle watery or thick slurry probely not water out the river, tractor would be running about 300 pto revs

Once had a star tanker that wouldn't fill. Dealer came out and drilled a hole in the float ball on the top, filled it with old nuts and bolts. Sealed the hole up, never any more bother....

How does a turbo fill work?

It's basically a hydraulic driven centrifugal pump that goes one the inlet and is driven from a spool valve. The slurry is pumped in under pressure so you'll fill in half the time, have fuller loads and pump thicker slurry.

8 inch fill pipe improves the situation even more.
