Makita drill mode ring is stuck

As above really and looking for advice/experiences. It's a brushless 18v one and I let it get a bit wet the other day. All dried out now and everything is fine except for the mode ring on the chuck which is stuck in 'screwing' mode (come on with the innuendo!). The torque ring was a bit cranky but had loosened up fine and I've searched google but haven't really come up with anything a bodger can work with.

Have you tried dropping it on the floor? Had similar with a work one once and it got knocked off a bench accidentally and it cured it!

Try wrapping a filter wrench round it to get abit more grip or a big set of water pump pliers .

Or spray some silicon lubricant stuff at it, may just help ease it round

This one was the winner! Got some filter grips and gave it some to work some wd40 into the edge under the ring. Good as gold now except the chuck stayed in cam lock (clicky zippy noise). Smacked the chuck with a hammer and it's all good as new!
