How very sad. :(
I have contacted lines and had to hop away from the tractor and it wasn't good, I could feel the tingle alright.
The poor family will be devastated, hopefully the details will be released so we can learn what caused this tragedy.

You only need to have one foot near the step or near the ground, not necessarily touching either
Even if you have both feet on the ground but a small distance apart apart electricity can go up one leg, fry your insides and back down the other leg to ground.
Was always taught legs tightly together and bunny hop away to a safe distance if you have to get out.

Very sad all the same.:(

Firstly terrible incident and tragic for all concerned.
Obviously I don't know the circumstances, but like others I always thought that being in a vehicle provided a sort of safe Faraday cage where electricity is concerned.
If he was working with a implement in the ground would that act like a earth?
Most accidents with electric would be touching overhead cables which the tyres would act as a insulator?
I don't know I'm just wondering !!
