Manufacturers & dealers have messed it up

Anybody else becoming increasingly annoyed with the trade across the board?
The manufacturers have hiked new prices to unprecedented levels out of reach to majority of farmers. £250,000 for 250hp tractor is unaffordable.
At the same time they are offering 50% less than market value for trade in’s.
An example I have a 4 yr old cultivator I want to move on. Its immaculate. They offer £9,000 but are selling them at £18,000-£20,000 at 4 years old. They want £40,000 for a brand new one.
I am just getting fed up with them and the salespeople’s hands are tied but generally saying they arent selling much but the bosses dont seem bothered.
What has happened to this industry is poor. We’ve been r*p*d by them but they dont seem to realise without us they dont exist.

And before long many of them will not exist.

I know for an absolute fact that our local JD and Case dealers are shifting nothing because I have friends in the service dept. Even the servicing has slowed down due to the £150/hr labour charges. Local smaller independent guys are more than half the price but still have the same diagnostic equipment so theres no incentive to use a main dealer outside of warranty if you can afford a new piece of equipment.

I agree it is a complete mess, but to be fair their costs will have gone up massively like ours. Many more of them will go out of business tho,and there has to be a re-alignment of kit prices downwards.Find out the true value of your cultivator by advertising privately.Should sell easily if you price a couple k less than a dealer would.

The dealerships may suffer less sales but the manufacturer ultimately wont.
Food is still needed and whichever country grows it will be where the equipment will sell.
Vaccines for livestock have gone up a lot yet the research and development was done many years ago. Quad bikes have tripled in price since our first one.
Ultimately what are you going to do about it apart from bend over and take it. Machinery does wear out.

If I go to lidl or any supermarket it is always over £40, one day it was £40.01 just to be aquard. I mentioned this to the cashier who said the staff were taken aback a few days earlier when someone's bill was just over £20. (Morrisons is actually not any deerer).
Things will without a doubt get a hell of a lot worse after October. Dont be surprised if we all get a framed picture of Mr Personality that must be kept polished, sing happy birthday to it and save it before before the children if the house catches fire.

Granted I’m on the other side of the fence and in not at all familiar with the workings of big dealerships but threads like this baffle me over and over again.

Land is too dear. Tractors are too dear etc etc.
But when land comes up for grabs there’s a fight over it.
Or a new tractor comes out and everyone has to buy it.

If everyone stopped buying new kit guess what! The prices would come down.

Supply and demand makes the world go round.
While ever there is demand from farmers the manufacturers will happily supply and name their price.

Back to my comment on the price of shopping.
We all need to eat, does that justify a massive rise in food prices, we don't get paid any more for what we produce.
An Ifor Williams dealer that will go un named always finds a way so the bill is over £1000. The parts when I bought them for another trailer were a couple of hundred and took a lot less time to fit than the 6hrs they claimed.
You must admit somewhere in there they are taking the p!$$.
Its a dog eat dog world but dont eat the customer

Fathers day ......father often told the story about buying his first baler in the late 50's , he spotted one in Hfd market and fancied it complete with 'on board engine' .
While looking at it the merchant owner said do you want it and dads words were " I would love it but can't afford it atm "
Don't worry they said pay when you can and anyway we haven't billed you yet , all we ask when we do bill you is that you will pay it within 6 mths , that was in the June and it was Dec before bill arrived.....he paid the same day !

You really need to stop being so sensible.
