Marketing tosh...

About 26 years ago we all piled onto the college bus and went to a huge marquee somewhere to see the launch of the new Ford tractors. Could have been the 40 series.

It was all lights and lasers and loud music. Then a film comes on with a young bloke trying to persuade his curmudgeonly old dad to buy him a new Ford. Wistful looks and puppy-dog eyes looking longingly at the brochure. The old man just shook his head, like they do. Like I do now, I suppose. All us college lads looked at each other, empathising with the poor chap. Next thing you know, the lad goes into the barn and there it is!!! A shiny new Ford! Well, the look on his little face was a picture, he was as chuffed as a dog with two nobs.

I don't remember it all, but that was the gist of it, so pulling at heart strings and emotions is nothing new.

Don't forget how many people are employed to sit around a table and come up with all that guff. At no doubt higher pay than the people who actually build them, and if you include every aspect of design, marketing and sales there's probably more of them.

I seem to recall 90 series DB leaflets had " DB traction action" as a headline. Can't be certain, as they went straight in the bin.:D

It won't be long before they're telling us how "passionate" they are about building tractors.

Everyone seems to "have a passion" these days.

Yes. Although it should be a little distressing. Imagine if......

"We are Fendt, we build tractors with a hard on, our hard on shows though in many areas, you can see where our hard on has been throughout the construction of your machine, anybody entering our new cabin cannot fail to be stuck by our hard on.

Fendt. Our hard on - Is your hard on.

I like some of the marketing slogans. If I had one it would be the full fat version of this, which I'm sure the forum won't post properly.

Peter G Smith. We don't fudge about.

Succinct and informative I think you'll agree.
Think my lime man has , ; our reputation is spreading, as his tag line.
