Not sure about 4wd but 2wd will have a set up like this picture and are terrible for wear.

This lot sits in front of your radiator the item 5.14 could be your biggest source of play it operates a valve when you turn the steering and the pin in either end can wear and holes get elongated drill out and fit bigger pins would be a quick fix there. The rest of the assembly should be regularly greased to stop all the bushes wearing

Yea as said the steering ram bushes will account for alot of the wear, but saying that there has to be some elements of free play in the valve linkage for the system to work correctly too

Check the track rod ends to and the axle support mountings

Also check pin no 10- I've had a few that have been terrible for wandering and it's turned out to be this pin snapped and the broken part of the pit catching enough to give you steering albeit all over the shop.

Sorry guys but there is not this kind of steering system in Marshall 802.
This version pictured here is from pre Q-Cab Leylands,384 270 etc.Its manual power assisted steering with steering-box under dash and more complicated valve, double arm etc. in a front of radiator.
In Q-Cabbed Leylands and Marshalls there is more simple hydrostatic steering.Just cylinder and one arm which connects cylinder to track-rods and orbitrol unit under cabin floor.
There are less wear points,of course usual track-rod ends king-pin bushes etc. but under fuel tank just both ends of steering cylinder and centre-pin where steering arm pivotes.
Specially centre-pin/arm bushes can be totally worn out if never greased...
