marts in Scotland

Depends what you want. Biggest for what? ANM are big but dont do a huge amount fat. Certainly not much point taking a dairy cow there!

Lairg is huge (for a couple of days per year)

Lanark, Caley, St Boswells, Castle Douglas, Longtown, all decent sized marts but really depends what you are looking for.

Hmm perhaps I should have reworded my question...though this is all very helpful. Not looking to buy or sell or anything like that. Looking to find out which marts have the most people attending? Perhaps I should reword the question to say which marts on which specific days/times of year will be the most busy?
Hope this makes sense and please excuse my lack of knowledge!

Bull sales, tup sales, special store sales, breeding sales. The weekly fat and store sales are nothing like as well attended as they were 20 or more years ago, even if they have a big throughput.Usually a few dealers, hauliers waiting for loads,a few farmers selling, and auction staff,no buzz as in the past.Still get that at the special sales to an extent.Think everyone is more businesslike and has less time to hang about and get the craic, besides there's a hell of a lot less potential farming attendees about these days.

Ua stirling is the biggest these days I would say. Regularly over 10000 sheep on store days and 7000 on fat days. 1200 store cattle every Wednesday too.

Lanark should be big but they have lost a lot of customers to stirling.

Rest of marts in central and lowlands are probably similar with numbers.
