Maschio DM 4m power harrow gearbox oil leak

So I thought the oil leak was the seal on the back plate that hides the changeable gears, it was leaking, but turns out I still have a leak, can only be leaking into the bed, looking at the parts diagram, I can see a seal and gasket, anyone done it before, any tips, I’ve a drill piggyback on it at mo so guessing that needs to come off, headstock then gearbox off, but will it just lift off after the flange bolts are undone or have I got to get to some of those circlips?? I’m not 100% on the age of it, early 90s??

Check first the rotor hub directly under the gearbox. Is it different to the rest? On some the output shaft of the gearbox goes down vertically through the trough, bull gear,bearings etc with a splined hub on the bottom and a securing nut for the hub.

Anyone know if that nut on the tine holder, under the bed, is left handed, I’ve failed so far, killed another socket using scaffolding pipe to try and shift, have had it glowing, got an impact socket coming Monday.

It's normal rh thread. I thought on the ones with quick fit tines the gearbox will lift off leaving a short shaft in the tray and the on the non quick fit ones the gearbox shaft goes all the way through the trough.

They can be hellish tight! I seem to remember having a huge scaffold bar on a dm years ago.

Did you get the nut off? Does heat help or make it worse?

Ended up being a nightmare job, heat got it moving but then it killed the thread, also killed a socket while using a bar on it, got a new impact socket but still had to cut the nut off, then the bearing would not move at all, wasted so much time trying, I ran out of ideas and cut the bearing off the shaft, thought the bearing be cheaper than the shaft, I was wrong! All done now though and used it this season.
